Vajdahunyad Castle is just amazing. Situated in Varosliget park at the back of Heroes' Square. It is on an island but no water in the moat at present. Simply magical castle. Lovely architecture. Christmas market is there at the moment too.
If you get a minute, take a stroll to the Vajyahuniyad castle grounds. The views are beautiful, scenery is serene, atmosphere is tranquil. Venture around the castle from one side to another to get a glimpse of the castle vast grounds, numerous statues and facades....More
This was for us the pinnacle of our visit to Budapest, by the way without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, better than Paris!!!!! Enjoy sitting by the lake, walk around this park and enjoy the views, it’s atmosphere, lovely!!!!!

You can book the tower tours as you enter the museum (although I would not bother with the gate tower as there is really not much to see). We just went and paid for what we wanted on the day and there was no problem with doing that as it was not that busy. The only thing I found you really need to book ahead for in Budapest because of limited availability was the tour of the parliament building and you cannot enter the parliament if you are not on a tour
