First of all... we struggled to find the botanical gardens. There is a small Japanese style garden with a few plants, a pond and some bonsai trees to look at. So in my opinion, the botanical garden title is quite misleading. Some enclosures were closed so I assume some improvements were being made. I found some areas particularly smelly and... More

The best zoo I've seen so far! In most of the places you walk among the animals. The animals look good and healthy. There is a botanic garden inside. And a lot of place to chill. It is quite big dough. You'll need a lot of time to see it all. There are games for kids here and there, but... More

A compact but well maintained zoo. The animals look happy and well cared for and you can get quite close to most of them. Cost the equivilent of about £20 for two adult a two teenagers to get in. A lovely way to spend 2 or 3 hours as long as its not raining

Animals are well taken care of, although the elephant pen is small and this pains me. My kids love it and the entrance is a beautiful testimony to the influence of Art Nouveau.

Despite the weather (cold winds and torrential rain) we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the zoo!!! One of the best zoos I've ever been to! So much to see and do and lots of interactive information. The ticket price is cheap and cheerful. Perfect for a rainy day activity as a lot of the enclosures are inside or under cover.... More

I couldn't imagine that being in Budapest on winter would be such a problem! But it was, especially for the animals that were on a winter sleep!!! And there were a lot of them!! And the other, were just cold and sleepy!! So we saw sleeping: lions, tigers, bears, rhinos and lots of apes!! But the Zoo, even without half... More

I've been to lots of zoos in Eastern Europe and this one was one of the worst. The ansimals looked sad, the cages were far too small and dirty. It was simply unpleasant. The only redeeming quality it had was the bakery inside the zoo which was beautiful and had great staff (even as a person with lots of allergies... More

The zoo is very big, right in the middle of the city. It has a beautiful Japanese botanical garden. The plant sections are amazing. The animal sections are separated by continents. It's a great way to spend half a day.

It's definitely a really good place to visit if you love animals and don't mind the crowd. There's one part of it which is under the giant rock/hill that is rally exciting and really cool!
