Vorosmarty ter is located at the start of Vaci utca and it is a traditional meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Over the past couple of decades it has changed enormously, the Building on the Western side was demolished and replaced by an ultramodern building, resulting ion a complete change in the businesses that were previously present. The classical,... More

This is a great place to visit with its location being right in the middle of heart of Pest side. There is the metro station with the same name which was the fist metro created in the continent of Europe and obviously we took a picture. Also there is a very famous café Gerbeaud in the square and we briefly... More

It definitely felt like all roads lead to Vörösmarty tér on our visit to Budapest! We were fortunate that the Spring Festival was taking place during our time in the city (especially as we were there during the long Easter holiday weekend when all of the stores were closed). There was always something happening with performances, food stalls, and handcrafted... More

Vörösmarty Square is a great place to meet, dine and go shopping. I often times choose Vörösmarty Square as a meeting point when I'm with other people and we want to go different places. Great place.

We were there during the spring fair and could enjoythe small boots where you could buy allsortsofsouvenirs. Not doubt it is pricer than others places in Budapest. But nevertheless it is cost to sit in the square with a beer or two and just watch People go by.

I have been living in Budapest for almost one and a half year but this place always gets me (if the weather is good). I went there last week and there was soo much life here. Spring market, food stalls, some music. Adjacent to Vaci street so you can always shop.

Vaci utca, the elegant shopping and tourist street is flowing into the square and in front of you, Gerbeaud, the famous confisserie established back in the mid-19th century. The square is surrounded by department stores and has access to the underground. Quite a place where tourists gather and look for coffee, refreshments or other sorts of food.

Lovely square in the city centre, a true heart of the city. Great meeting point, near the Danube river and Chain bridge, yet not crowded.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
