I baulked at the price of a tour of this building (especially as I got no discount as I was not an EU citizen, and also got no senior discount), but finally decided to go. I'm pleased I went, despite the price. It is only possible to visit with a guided tour, and tickets can often be scarce in some... More

The architecture is impressive. Tour guide offered a good education on the history of the building than of Hungary. It is recommended that you book your guided tour in advance.

Situated on the pest side of city. Beautiful architecture and looks beautiful in evening when all lights are on.

Although we didn't enter the Parliament on a tour, we did spend many an hour viewing such a beautiful building from afar, either our Hilton Hotel at Buda, or Batthyány Square, both in daytime and at night. A truly iconic building and probably Hungary's most famous and prestigious.

I would definitely recommend a visit to this fantastic building. Day or night, it really is beautiful! There are also some underground exhibitions in the daytime which explain the history of the building and the massacre in the 50s. Very interesting history and worth a visit.

This is a must stunning and the trams go right past it from the Elizabeth bridge/boat docks. The buiklding is amazing and very similar to our Houses of parliament but newer. Must see the 1956 free exhibition right outside the building

We had planned to do the tour of the Parliament building but in the end were just happy walking around and enjoying the views from the outside. Definately one of the icons of Budapest.

It's really a magnificent building, but the real beauty of it comes when it gets dark and they light it up. A little hack: if you got a 24h Budapest ticket, you can use the local ships for a free tour on the Danube and you can watch the Parliament from the river.

The Parliament building is amazing and I would definitely recommend you see this on your trip. Do book in advance and if a Student take advantage of the discounted price! Very informative visit and such an ornate building. The earpiece provided is a bit rubbish, so I would recommend you take your own set of headphones.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
