What a view! This place can be crowded but still shouldn't be the reason to skip this place. Stunning view of the city from - the architecture is amazing I just loved how colourful it looked like! Great photo-op in every corner of the building. It was very cold when we were up there in December, but it was worth... More

This huge sprawling bastion lies directly between the palace and the church and the river. The construction seems out of a fairy tale and everyone wants to be where you are. Be patient.

Nice views of Danube and parliament worth a visit to take some photos of Budapest ... Take the cable car up ... And down if you don't like waking uphill!! Pretty and with a visit but not much to do once you've seen the views.

High up on the Castle Hill of Buda, behind the Matthias Kirk, is this beautiful stone terrace with quite possibly the best view to be had of Pest. Part of a centralised tourist area of the castle, national museums and churches. Plenty of mulled wine stalls in the area - your perfect travelling companion.

If you visit this place tou´ll think that you are in a Fairy Tale. It´s very interesting and the sights are so beautiful because you are in the uptown.

Had the most beautiful views of the city here! I just loved it! It looked like a sand castle! I didn't pay for any extras, and I thought the experience was fine as it was.

This place is one of the 'must see' when you are visiting Hungarian capital. Beautiful and chariming view on river Danube and Hungarian building of parliament. And all part across the river. There is also square with Church to visit. You can acess this place by stairs and small walk as it is little bit higher located. But the view... More

This is a pretty crowded but beautiful square with a great view over the 'Pest' part of Budapest. A beautiful church with colorful roof tiles is right next to this building aswell, definitely a must see when you're in Budapest.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
