Essentially, Margit sziget is to Budapest what Central Park is to NYC. Much like the city, the island has a rich history as well. Besides the endless maze of walking trails, and the great views of the city on either side, there are several small...More

Glorious park that can be reached by boat, tran, bus, taxi or foot. We went over on a boat & took the tram back. Very pretty park with dancing fountains, food stalls, cafe, bikes & other vehicles to hire. Lovely place to chill.

Was staying reasonably close to the Park and ran their cushioned track around the island. Good views of Budapest along the Danube , nice spot for a run.

Really good for a relaxing stroll during the day. Nice entrance with a 'musical' fountain and areas to sit at one end, and a thermal baths at the other end. Seems to be well used by locals too, with a jogging track round the outside....More

looked forward to seeing this, fountains are pretty, the planting is also pretty, found frogs and turtles in the Japanese garden, always good. BUT there are too many cycles, little motorised cars and wheeled vehicles

Island accessible by public transportation. It looks like a park. You can visit aquapark or you can walk up to the water tower.

We love walking and we spent an afternoon walking up and down this entire island (located in the middle of the Danube River), which is really one big park with two resort hotels at the end of it. Has a few ruins, a lovely Japanese...More

Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the
Danube represents a green oasis, especially during
summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by
both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very
picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the
landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air
of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and
romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of

No, but there are extensive private grass areas, both shaded and in the open which many people were sunbathing in. No one was close to each other as this is a very large area so nice and private
