Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Lion Fountain is in Vörösmarty tér, a recently refurbished triangular pedestrian area about 200m from Elizabeth ter. and the Budapest Eye. The fountain was built in 1985 on the site of a well. Four stone lions surround an ornate 19th century iron lamppost. Potable water streams from the lion's mouth into stone basins. The fountain is connected to the public water supply so you can refill your water bottle (avoiding plastic waste). The fountain is accessible at all times with no entry fee.

Coming out from Metro 1, you can choose the go to the Gerbeaud House opposite you, or to the Lion Fountain only a few steps away. On a hot summer day, of course, I would go to the fountain, but today the weather is windy and cold, and the fountain is dry. So, Gerbeaud or Fountain?
The Gordian knot was finally solved by the fragrance of the fried dough, grilled sausages and mulled wine. They started the Christmas fair on Vörösmarty Square a little early, but they did. So I walked over to the fountain if it was already on my route anyway, and then, went on towards the fried dough, and with mulled wine, I warmed up my limbs, that were cooled besides the lions. The four lions who guard the well are enthroned on a platform where you can climb up on a few steps. In the summer, the kids ride the lions, but I only touched their noses. None of them grunt up. They are already domesticated. In the center, on a wrought iron pillar, there are lamps in circles, but just as the fountain did not rumble, the lights were not lit either. Yet. But the fried dough was delicious and the mulled wine was fragrant and warm. .Coming to Vörösmarty Square was worthy after all

Located Vorosmarty Square, stands this very interesting fountain, as we visited at night we thought is was just an ornate lamp post, however, on further investigation we could see it was a fountain, surrounded with four lions, hence the name.

While walking across the ever popular Vorosmarty Square named after the patriotic Hungarian poet of the same name to visit the hard rock cafe. We saw for the first time the ornate Lion Fountain (Oroszlános kút). This is not an old fountain as it was built in 1985 over the sight of a well, the architect László Wild was responsible for its construction and sculptor Agnes Peter created the four stone lions that spewed water into four basins. At the time of our passing it seemed to be a very popular place for the local birds to bath.
TIP: Good place to meet friends before heading off to explore more of the local area.

At first I didn't see it as a fountain at all, but as an interesting lamp - only then did I notice that water could also flow (it was there in winter, so the fountain wasn't in use). If you're in Gerbeaud, you'll naturally pass by here. Very well done.
