Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's not close to the city center, but it's absolutely worth it. I was near Oktogon so I had to take a tram, then a bus, then a short hike (but very easy, not an intense hike). It's free to get in and you can go all the way to the very top where the views are absolutely stunning. 360 degree view of the entire surrounding area.

Our self organised tour of the Buda hills saw us trek up from the children’s railway stop at Janoshegy, a brief beer stop, and the. The climb to and up the tower. Stunning views across Hungary and Slovakia - a guide on what could be seen in each direction would have been helpful - then back to the chairlift ride down

We got the 61 tram from Buda to Budagyongye then the 291 bus to zugligeti, from here get the chair lift up the hill and a short walk up to the tower, it is spectacular both in its looks and the view it gives from the top, free to enter. Was very windy on our visit but the view from the top is great. We walked back down, which is not for the faint hearted but a good work out, or you can pay to go back down the chair lift. Great trip out of the city and a break from the norm!

We did a half day trip to this place children’ S Railway then the chair lift finishing with. I would have preferred hiking up through the forest or just come up via the chair lift. Once at the top of the lift there are a few shops for foot and drink . You can then walk up the incredible hill , 600m very very steep. Amazingly you could see cyclists riding up as well . Once at the top it’s amazing. The lookout itself is a sight to behold. There is a bar at the base which is daylight robbery and only takes cash. You can then climb up to the very to
the very top. The pictures do not do it any justice at all

Nice are with well marked hiking trails in the woods, playgrounds, jogging path etc. The viewpoint is well reserved, with small historic "museum" on the first level and is free to visit. A coffee on the ground floor (cash only!) and free toilet. Wheelchair accessible until the base, but not inside.

After getting off the children's Railway,
We walked up a beautiful snowy path through the snow covered trees. Quiet and peaceful.
(Except my daughter throwing snowballs!😁)
The Elizabeth lookout tower was up a fairly steep hill, but worth the effort. Panoramic views all round. Budapest is spectacular and the view is free. The tower is free to enter too.
Bit of a climb up but great views, breathtaking.
We got the chair lift back down.
Loved the snow covered landscape and the peace away from the city bustle.

Part of the fun is getting there - apart from the more conventional tube, bus, and tram, there's also the Cog Railway, the Children's railway, and the Zugliget Chairlift. The Elizabeth Lookout Tower is free to enter, though whatever mode of transport you use, there's a short hill climb on foot at the end. It's worth it - the view are tremendous on a clear day.

We dropped our cat at Normafa and walked all the way to the Elisabeth Lookout Tower on the forest trail . The view was just perfect, we could see the Hungarian Parliament clearly!

I recently visited the Elizabeth Tower and was impressed by the incredible 360-degree views it offers over Budapest & surroundings. Plus, the tower is located in a lovely park and you don't have to pay to enter the tower. I would definitely recommend visiting this site for a unique high-up perspective on Budapest.

Hello! I'm off to Budapest in a few weeks and wanting to visit here and the childrens railway, can you advise the easiest way to get here please?
Thanks

Depending on where you are staying and how much money you have to spend and how many kids consider getting a quote for a yellow taxi from your venue to the railway or get the bus. Think you have to get the tickets return before you get onto the bus. There are two buses that goes one terminates at the cable car the other to the start of railway. The day we went it was sunny and lovely by the time we got near the top we suffered 3 very short but heavy rain falls but due to the temperature it wasn’t that bad make sure shoes are comfy and you have rain coats or umbrellas. There is a bar at the lookout but it was very expensive for what it provided.there is a few shacks near the top of the cable car where you can buy a traditional fried dough bread covered in onions cheese and garlic when we first saw this we thought it was a pizza until we saw the man frying the dough. Depending on how well you and children can walk and whether you like walking you can easily spend the whole day here. It may well be an idea to bring a pack lunch and some water

How much doe it cost to use the railway up the hill?
Written 31 January 2019
Hi, we used the children's Railway up to the Elizabeth tower. Cost 6€ for three of us (2adults and 1child age 12).
Travelled back down on the chair lift. 8€ for three if us. One way.
Hope this helps 😁
