The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

The Church of Saint Anne overlooks this square. It is the site of the transportation hub where you can take buses and trams. There are several café’s here, including one inside the station.

There are also several interesting sculptures and monuments.

A neat square with excellent public transport connections (subway, tram, bus). Mentionable shopping building with a hipster café on the first floor. Good place for a refreshing stop.

Everyone who knows a bit of Batthyány Square would mention the Church of Saint Anne as the most important building of the place. The beautiful Baroque church is undoubtedly one of the most memorable religious edifices in Budapest, but if you look around carefully can find other little treasures. The prominent Market building is the same design as the other markets in the city. Though if you continue to walk, after a few small shops are two noticeable old houses, the former White Cross Inn first, and next to it the Hikisch House. It is worth taking a closer look at them. Before both of them, the pavement is already below the road level. A sure sign that they weren't built yesterday.
The square is also a transport hub. Here is a station of the M2, and the HÉV (Suburban railway) starts from here to Szentendre. Several buses have a terminus here and also tram stops are here for your convenience. With small landscaped areas and benches, the architect tried to resolve the rigidity of traffic junction, but with little success. You can't get everything at once. On one side the Danube is bordering Batthyany square, and since the Parlament house is exactly opposite on the other side of the river you can enjoy a stunning view.

Batthyany Square ( Batthyany Ter ) is a rather splendid square not too far from the River Danube .
The centrepiece of the square is St Anne Church ,a beautiful twin spired church that's so photogenic, the buildings that form the square are fabulous, there's a market hall and some really eye catching older buildings, there's statues on the square, the most famous of which is Statue Of Batthyany Lagos, there's cafe bars and this square is home to good tram and bus connections, all in all a great square to check out if you're in the area or planning a holiday to Budapest.

While staying in an apt. in the area, I passed through this area at least two times day. Very clean, plenty of seating and amazing views of parliament. Great grocery store in the large building straight ahead. Plus, some restaurants, cafes and St. Anne’s Church.

There are a number of intersections of hop on hop off busses; trollies; and other travel options and it is right next to the Danube so there is a lot happening here. Named after a former prime minister??

There is nothing special about this square. The notable attraction here is St. Anne's Church which seems to be closed most of the time. However, the waterfront next to this square is the best spot in Budapest to take pictures of the Parliament, day and night.

Batthyány Square is a small and quaint Square in Buda close to The Margaret Bridge which we drove past this afternoon on our Hop On Hop Off Bus.

A couple of old churches and other buildings, as well as a mini park, form the main basis for Batthyány Square.

Worthy of a brief visit if in Buda and headed towards The Castle District.
