Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The statue by József Bem is very classically designed and shows the general in a dynamic pose. It is good for a photo, but not particularly eye-catching. If you take a short break in the square, you can look at the statue in peace.

He was a man who sacrificed his whole life to the freedom fight. His cradle didn’t rock in Hungary, didn’t speak the language, but in 1848 Józef Bem, a Polish soldier came to Hungary, and he became the commander of the Transylvanian army. He fought shoulder to shoulder with the Hungarians for their freedom and led the Hungarian “honvéd” to a lot of victorious battle. His soldiers called him Bem Apó, Guffer Bem since he wasn’t a young man, 55 years old already. After the fall of the Hungarian freedom fight, he emigrated to Turkey.
This statue preserves us the memory of this beloved dauntless army leader.

Józef Zachariasz Bem (1794 - 1850) was a Polish, Hungarian and (later) Turkish general involved with the 1848 Hungarian revolution. In November 1848 he took command of the Hungarian army in Transylvania and Banat, ousting the Austrian troops within four months; he later led his troops in several significant victories over the Russians. Admired by his soldiers, he was named "father Bem". Unfortunately, his troops were defeated in 1849 in battles at Segesvar and Temesvar, ending the Hungarian revolution. His statue (pointing the way forward) is in a small square surrounded by flower beds. In 1956 200,000 Hungarian students gathered here to protest against Soviet rule, in a rally originally organized to support Polish workers. The square is accessible at all times with no entry fee.

This statue of a general in the centerpiece of Bem Square. The memorial was surrounded by colorful plantings in July.

Bem Jozsef Memorial is very close to the River Danube on the Buda side. It stands next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
It is nothing special.
