Standing right in front of the Parliament, this 6.5 metres bronze equestrian statue commemorates one of Hungary's most beloved politicians - the count Gyula Andrassy, who served as the nation's prime minister between 1867 and 1871. it was well said that the inauguration of the statue “gives Andrássy the recognition he deserves.”
Count Gyula Andrássy (1823 – 1890) was a Hungarian statesman, who served as Prime Minister of Hungary (1867–1871) and subsequently as Foreign Minister of Austria-Hungary (1871–1879).

Beautiful monument honouring Count Gyula Andrássy
This is an equestrian mounted bronze statue of Count Gyula Andrássy, a famous Hungarian statesman. Count Gyula is sitting on his horse, with the horse in a walking stance. On the base, there appear to be about 19 richly-dressed men gathered in three or four discussion groups. From their attire and the location of the memorial, I assume they are noblemen or politicians discussing issues facing Parliament or the country.
Count Gyula Andrássy was the Prime Minister of Hungary from 1867 to 1871.
This statue is located on the southerly side of the Parliament, i.e., the side closest to the “Shoes on the Danube Bank” memorial.

While not as dramatic as other statues near the Parliament, this is a lovely statue of a beloved Hungarian politician.

This is the other statue riding a horse next to the Parliament besides the Rakoczi statue. While the Rakoczi statue is more dramatic looking with the horse rearing its front legs, this one has the advantage that it is facing away from the Parliament. So when you take a picture of the front of the statue, you get the majestic looking Parliament as the backdrop.

Along the riverfront and adjacent to Hungarian Parliament Building is Statue of Gyula Andrassy ( 1823-1890 ).
A great equestrian statue in honour of one of the most beloved politicians in Hungarian history who served as prime minister from 1867-1871 and subsequently as Foreign Minister of Austro - Hungary from 1871-1879 .
It's a great looking statue in a prime position, very photogenic especially at night when illuminated, its easy to locate on Kossuth Lajos Ter and well worth checking out if you're in the area.
