Postojna Cave is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world's largest karst monuments. A fantastic web of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls, the astonishing diversity of Karst features as well as easy access are certainly the main reasons for such popularity of the cave and a large number of visitors.

Before the entrance, there will be queues for the various language speaking guides. Once you are at the entrance of the cave you will proceed to take a short rail ride into the cave and from there, prepare to walk to enjoy the beauty of the formation of stalactites and stalagmites. Comfortable shoes and warm clothing are recommended since there... More

As a visitor from Brazil, where caves are much more seldom visited and you can stay as long as you wish inside caves, visiting this 'industrial' cave was a very different experience: thousands of visitors per hour are brought in and out, in a timely and precise manner. Formations are very interesting, surroundings also.

The cave system at Postojna is absolutely huge, when on the train ride in you're told you're only seeing a fraction of the actual caves, it is very impressive. the only downside: it is indeed a bit touristy but hey, maybe the obvious tricks like: go early to avoid the masses etc could help, we did not follow them unfortunately.... These caves are pretty cool with a wee train ride into them. Make sure you have warm clothing as it can get pretty cold the further in you get. Typical limestone caves with stalactites and stalagmites. You walk through the caves on a formed walkways and a guide talks to you about the formation etc. We have seen similar caves... More

I think this is the BEST cave tour we have had for the past 10 years, at least! We went on 9 Nov. Entrance Fee: €31.90 (Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. It's a package deal, worth it! Need to drive 9km to Predjama Castle from Postojna Cave. Once you exit from car park, turn right and follow the narrow winding... More

Humongous cave, with a build in little railway system. The inside of the cave is hard to describe in whole. You definitely should go and visit this place, it is unbelievable. The history of the founding of the cave and its usage as a prison for Russian soldiers in WW1 is very interesting too. Very cold inside, and the tour... More

We visited the Postojna Cave last week as part of our trip to Slovenia and Istria. We've been in caves in the United States, and were simply overwhelmed with the beauty and enormity of this European cave. The walkways were well maintained, lighting was ample, and none of the man-made enhancements detracted from the natural beauty underground. I was a... More

I really recommend this experience: it is a nice opportunity to see how wonderful is the nature. The visit costs around 25€, and it includes the entrance, the guide, and the train that drives you around 10 minutes till the deepness of the cave. There, you have to walk for around 15 minutes. (There is a short option which takes... More
