Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came across this church as we walked along the Preseren Quay. It is located at the end of the peninsula near the lighthouse. Our Lady of Health Church was originally dedicated in 1274, was redesigned in the Baroque style in 1776 and 1777, with the Gothic Revival church tower added in the mid 19th-century. Until the 17th century, it was dedicated to St. Clement. It is protected as a cultural monument of local significance

The 1274 Church of Our Lady of Health in Piran, Slovenia. This early church was originally dedicated to Saint Clement, Patron Saint of Sailors, but during the Black Plague Epidemic of 1632 it was rededicated to the Madonna.
This tiny single nave church is being renovated, so all furnishings and art have been removed. The current 40' neo-Gothic bell tower dates from the 19th century, while much of the facade was updated in 1506.
The church, the nearby lighthouse, and the roundel served both the military defensive and religious needs of Piran, sheltering citizens during pirate raids.
The church may have tbe single most beautiful spot in all of Piran. Don't miss it.

First - the photo above is not from this church - it is from main cathedral of st. George. Church does not have a bell tower. It is very nice decorated from inside - specially around altar. Take a look at the ceiling painting which looks like a balcony.

It was a nice little gotic church. The paintings on the ceiling were beautiful. It was not special . The view in front of the church was stunning.

Located on Cape Punta, the original church from 1274 was dedicated to St. Clement, the patron saint of sailors. In 1632, during the plague epidemics, it became the Church of Our Lady of Health. It was last rebuilt between 1773 and 1778 in the Baroque style. The ceiling shows a light blue and white scene representing love (Caritas). The altars are made of Carrara marble. The attached belltower is exactly 40 feet, a request of the Austrian military authorities of the 19th century. All furnishings and paintings are stored away while the church is being restored. You can only see its interior through a grate at the front door.
It acquired its present-day appearance after numerous renovations in the year 1773 and extensive restoration in the year 1890. Attached to the back of the church is the Cape Punta lighthouse, an odd combination.
Very small but impactful to see. It’s located along the long boardwalk so you will probably see it when you go for a stroll or a swim. I would like to see it when it’s completely renovated.

This is the small church around the corner from the harbour, not the bigger one above the town.
It looks really cute and unusual from the outside and only stands out because it is along the promenade. It looks inside as if the place has been stripped to bare walls and we could only look inside from the doorway. It looked very cute inside though - although not intensely decorated like other working churches.
Well worth a quick visit if you are walking along the coastal path around the peninsula.

This church is so small that it could be easy to overlook. We weren't allowed in, but could view it from the doorway. it is well worth going to see it because the interior is very pretty.

This church or cerkev is a small building. It is easy to miss it. Outside is like a hundred similar churches in Venice. Inner part is a marvel of different periods with paintings and wooden furniture from altars to the ceiling. On ordinary days you can just enter and look through the grate.

Take a look at this small church, and its elaborate decorations, perhaps more typical of Florence or Rome. It's just a quick look - you'll be standing on the outside of the iron bars.

Nice little church on the way to more attractive church of St. Georgios. Worth a stop and a quick look. The doors are locked but you can see the interior through the iron rails.
