Not a lot to see here - but worth a walk around town and a stop here for 10 minutes or so. Some interesting things to see inside the church including the frescos on the ceiling.

Inside the "Samostan Sv. Franciska" is a chair carved from a 500 year old indigenius olive tree. Try the chair with your eyes closed for a couple of minutes. One can hear the church choir's soft music from inside too. The place is simply magical!

Worth the climb up a narrow street for a peek inside the church and musem rooms. They ask for a voluntary donation but its free.

While strolling through the narrow alleyways we came to a wide staircase which led us to a small square , which the the chuch of St Francis faced with its monastery to the right . A beautiful interior with fine frescoes and altars and very attractive cloisters in the monastery next door .A very peaceful place to visit , and... More

Immaculate church with a surprisingly detailed inside. Tucked away off a small square and accessed through narrow lanes, this church is deceptively large.

This is more than a church, it's also a convent. The church has several nice altars. There's also a cloister and a couple other rooms one with some interesting artifacts and paintings. Found this much more interesting than St George up the street.

If you are in Piran you might go and see it, as it is an old and beautiful monastery, it is not active nowadays.

An old and beautiful monastery in Piran with lovely court yard. Inside the church, you may find the special saint faces on the dome, which is seldom found in the other churches. Also, you may find a hand holding the saint cross from the side of 2 floor lookout, which is quite interesting and special.

Each important medieval town in middle of Europe had Church or monastery of St. Francis of Asissi. Piran has one too. It is little hidden north of the main Tartini Square, right from narrow street. Some steps lead you to a terrace. Main façade is nothing special. Inner part of church is far more interesting, colorful, with nice decorations. Very... More
