We visited the charming Venetian town of Piran as part of a Princess Cruise stop in Koper. One of the great things about Piran is Tartini Square, the historic square that lies in the heart of the town. For a small town, the white marble-paved...More

The town hall is just one of the lovely buildings to admire here and Tartini's statue is the obvious focal point. Don't forget to drop into the Tartini House and its Memorial Room nearby to learn more about him.

It is relatively calm in this area during the day. There are cafes that you can relax at and also, the information booth is here. The white marble used to line the square is beautiful and gleams in the sunshine. At night, it is very...More

Such a cute square, overlooking the nearby port. The heart of the small city of Piran, surrounded by gift shops, cafés, and restaurants. Heavenly.

Very lovely square. It's in the center of town so you will happen upon it. I didn't eat at any of the cafes there but I did enjoy several ice creams. Also there are some cute little shops in the streets around it.

The square is the focal point of the Old Town. But it is not a tourist square. The people of Piran use the square every day as if the tourists aren't there. Kids run around, skateboard, roller skate, bicycle-and adults join in. After school it...More

This is the first place you enter as you come into Piran. It's a typical town square with cafes and some shops.. It is quite large given Piran itself is a very small town. From various corners of the square, you can walk to the...More

We walked from this very square to our hotel in portoroz twice. Café’s and souvenir shops are also here. In the evening you can sit on one of the chairs in the square and soak it all in: it’s really magical!
