I’ve been told that they redid the embankment, not sure why or what it was like before. Seemed like a nice place to hang out, including with family, but it was rainy/overcast during my stay in Ljubjiana, so I didn’t think it worthwhile to spend lots of time here.

A beautiful unlucky afternoon.
Oct. 2019
The captivating beauty of the Breg embankment had to be captive only with my eyes since I forgot to bring my camera and my mobile slowly but surely discharged. What a pity, to be such an exciting place and unable to take photos. Now I have to rely on my memory and try to describe things, from that a photo would tell much more. The Breg embankment as I guess starts at Zoisova Cesta ( St James bridge), as a continuation of Krakovski nasip, and hands over the baton at a public toilette at the beginning of Hribarjevo Nabrezje. During my short walk, I found two public toilets. Ljubljana is a very polite city that thinks about the physical needs of its citizens and the tourists, unlike Budapest, where the unhappy state of toileting is proverbial. They should have to come to Ljubljana to learn how to serve well the public.
A little farther from the river, I discovered a very interesting house, the Codelli's house, named after the head of a helmeted knight built by F. Robba into the gate. Another anonymous building with richly painted walls, arcades, wild grapes, statues that I can only imagine has grown so much to my heart that I will have to go back there the next time I visit, though it is nothing significant. It is housing various shops. On the river bank from St George Bridge to the center, I saw a very brave lady taking advantage of the last rays of the sun, sunbathing naked on the river bank. A plaque informed me, that "Reclining woman with a garland." Another attraction on the Breg Embankment is the Flea Market, but it is open only on Sundays, and my visit fell on weekdays. The flags of the castle waving opposite, and next to me blue-painted walls of a tiny semi-detached house offering beer, but the tables in front of it are empty and the shutters are down. Such a pity. Only the sight of it made me more thirsty.
In the corner of Novi trg, there is a very simple but beautiful Baroque fountain. From 3 smaller larger bowls, the water flows like a veil to the bottom fourth.
Perhaps the funniest thing I found was a large inviting hammock over the water. Who's gonna climb in? Children will most likely.
All these embankments are convincing me, that actually the Ljubjanica is the main attraction of Ljubljana. It applies to all the same cities with rivers, but maybe a bit more for Ljubljana.

Nice walk
Jun. 2018 • Couples
A nice stroll along the embankment which was very clean and tidy, gets you away from the crowds the further down it you go. Peaceful on the sections where you are right next to the river and you can watch the boats go up and down. Lots of little iron statues situated along the way mainly of dragons. Nice to take a walk if you have time. A few buskers along the way and sometimes a few market stalls are situated around and about.

Flea market and Christmas market
Dec. 2016 • Friends
On ordinary day it is well kept embankment with a path near the river, some chestnuts and a line of bars, restaurants and shops in the houses near the river Ljubljanica. Guides will explain to you some monuments to mayor Hribar, mayor Tavčar or printer Blasnik and patron of arts Žiga Zois. Better view and vivid crowd is there each Sunday. Place is rearranged to a flea market with antiques, old books, some jewelry. It is interesting for all generations and any visitor. On the nearest square you can listen to the music band for free. You will find another market before Christmas. They put nice wooden cottages and sell souvenirs, woolen products, small gifts and – hot tea and wine, too. We will meet there.

Small iron dragon makes it special
Jul. 2016 • Couples
Our river boat trip took us past the embankment and the thing that really made this stand out for us was the stylized iron dragon. Very unique.

Nice location next to river, and interesting Sunday market
Apr. 2016 • Couples
Sunday 10th April 2016. We went here for the flea market which apparently springs up here every Sunday. Had a fascinating wander amongst the stalls selling all sorts of things from Communist era medals and memorabilia to stamps; watches; coins; and even antique but working gramophone players! Worth an hour or so on a Sunday morning.

nice river walk south ot cobbler's bridge
May 2015 • Couples
This short river walk is south of the cobbler's bridge and lasts one block before resurfacing at Zoisova Cesta. It has nice views of the river and the old town across the river. Not so good views of the castle as it's a bit too close and you only get the tower and top most ramparts, the rest being covered by trees.
