Definitely one to experience.. I'd read mixed reviews beforehand but was determined to take a look and sample the nightlife. First visited relatively early one night when it was still quite quiet, and have to admit as a solo female I chickened out after feeling a little intimidated by everyone seeming to stare at me as I strolled into the area and someone offering to sell me drugs. However I steeled myself with a little extra dutch courage and visited later on a few more nights into my holiday, this time just threw myself into it, bought a beer and sat down and started talking to people on one of the outside benches, and found everyone I met to be really, really friendly. I can understand how people can feel nervous at first, but you can have a fantastic and very different night out here if you just stop worrying and immerse yourself in it! Also worth a visit in the daytime to admire the weird and wonderful artwork.…

Unorthodox area, famous for its street art. We went there around lunch time, but no activity yet. Later in the afternoon the action seems to start. Worthwhile seeing!

Having definitely grown out of the nightlife scene in a place like this, we visited in the morning and had almost a free run of the place to ourselves. There were a few people chilling on benches but nobody bothered us as we explored and even filmed the art (but not the people as that is against what few rules they have here). I wish I had visited slightly later in the day since none of the official art galleries were open but all of the free open air art was good enough for me. As a lover of street art, had I known about this place before visiting Ljubljana, it would have been on my bucket list.…

Visited the urban enclave of Metelkova Mesto and enjoyed the imaginative murals and creative street art. It may not be everybody's scene but to see an alternative side of the city it is worth a visit.
