The City Museum within less than a dozen rooms gives a great overview of the history of Ljubljana. The Displays are really well presented and the initial room packs a punch. Surprised to see that the National Museum gets a higher rating. it certainly has...More

The museum is housed in a former palace and is worth a visit for the stunning basement alone. Entrance is 6 euros but included with the wonderful Ljubljana card. The basement contains the Roman Road and all things archaeological . Great touchscreen resources. Don't miss...More

Nice museum! I liked the basement floor exhibition dedicated to the Roman history of the city. The new exhibition upstairs I didn’t like that much, but I understand the effort to attract the general public.

The City Museum was good and interesting but, when I visited in May 2018, one of the three floors was closed due to a re-vamp. It was a shame. The cafe in the basement was modern and attractive but very expensive.

A well presented and informative museum. Although Slovenia didn’t have a massive part to play in WW2, the exhibit has been well constructed. Clean tidy, pleasant.

More and more kids are having their birthday parties in this museum. They get to dress and act as Roman citizen of Emona (Roman name for Ljubljana), do some art and enjoy a day. I guess if you travel with kids, that want more than...More

We wandered into the Ljubljana City museum as a way to escape the heat, but it was an excellent experience! Downstairs, they have a cool exhibition on local archaeological finds from the Roman period, while upstairs there is a top-notch exhibition on the industrial history...More
