We drove from Croatia to visit the railway museum after seeing reviews online. There is a pay and display car park on site which was reasonable. (We paid €3 for 10 hours). The museum is signposted on the actual street but if on foot, head...More

Went there with my kids, they really enjoyed to climb on the locomotive, to explore outside, and the whole museum in general. It's quite a hidden place and we can take amazing pictures.

The Railway Museum (Železniški Muzej) is a 25 minute walk from Preseren Square but it is worth the effort. The German made 018 locomotive from the the SŽ-Series 06 (formerly the JŽ-Series 06), built in 1930, is worth the price of admission alone. It is...More

We would've never known about this remote museum without the brochure in the tourist information shop. Then walking there, we would've never found the place if we didn't convince ourselves our GPS was right (it was). But when we got there, we're so glad we...More

Great display of old locos in what was probably the old engine shed. Some outside too but most in poor state of repair - like many of the other buildings. Finally went in to see the display of old signalling equipment, staff uniforms and maps...More

Not the easiest place to find as it is a lillte outside the normal tourist area. The steam engines in the old roundhouse are the highlight but there are many more displays of railway infrastructure. Unlike museums of this type in britain yoy can climb...More

I loved this museum! The english interpretations were very good; it was laid out very sensible; it was a feast for the eyes and mind. The guide at the front was friendly and helpful and the exhibits were beautifully displayed and explained. A work of...More

Iconic place with old railway machines and related stuff. I suggest the visit at some Saturdays from spring to autumn where there is also a collectors' fair, you can see model railways and children can ride around with a little dusty train.

Smell of old railway station, original locomotives, original rail. It is not an artificial museum it is frozen history of railway. Don’t expect new building with all amenities, just an old building from the time of our grandfathers. Museum is not in the main road...More
