I took some time to visit three museums at the same yard. Best for me is Slovenski etnografski muzej with real presentation of ethnography from the area and nice souvenir shop and good little cafe. Second is National museum and third this Museum of contemporary art. It has strange entrance and enough space for visiting inside. Collections are a mixture... More

delightful modern building, obviously dedicated to modern art (paintings and sculpture mainly) - Seems to be all Slovenian, but the standard is high. fairly small gallery, so not "overwhelming". Fab café, study area. We really enjoyed our visit.

Contemporary art tends to divide opinion, with some willing to make the effort to try to understand what is going on, and others who dismiss it as rubbish, and I suspect that this museum will have that effect. Most of the displays are temporary exhibitions which makes it even more difficult to review as the contents may have changed by... More

Very few visitors in this great museum. Definitely worth a visit if you are into contemporary art. student price 2,5 euros was absolutely reasonable.

If you appreciate and enjoy contemporary art this is definitely a place you should visit. I spent about 2 hours at the museum because I read the wall labels to learn about the different artworks and artists. The explanations are given in Slovenian and English. I got to know a little bit about the artists that I didn't know before.... More

I was there with my little sister, who really isn't into art and I felt quite sorry for bringing her there. We only visited the temporary exhibition since we weren't interested in the "communist art section" and I didn't really like what I saw except for one artist's work. This is the first time I go out of a modern... More

I left this museum feeling depressed fron the exhibits and upset with myself dragging my husband through here. I go to art museums in every city that I visit and have never before been to one where I didn't find at least one inspiring thing. The graffiti outside is better (and free!)

Well worth a visit. It is deceptively large on 3 floors and has a variety of interesting often visual exhibitions. A little way out in places, but that's only to be expected from a contemporary art museum. We particularly the exhibition on the Slovenian punk movement, whose music was surprisingly good!

Been to several European museums of modern art, alone and with family. Normally each of us found few interesting pieces of work, which kids sometimes still remember and discuss. Not the case in MSUM: we left after 30 minutes, because 80% of installations is praise to former Yugoslavian (communists) regime - so pathetic. Overall a very boring experience, and NOT... More

We visited the museum on the national holiday so it was admission free. The guide (I think it was Tanja) was just perfect. There were a couple of artist I really liked. The staff is very helpful. There is also a bookstore and a nice caffe SAM is in the building next door. It will probably take you between 1... More
