We visited on a clear night last summer and had a lot of fun. There isn't really much to see at the castle itself, but of course it offers amazing views of the city and the Julian Alps. We rode the cable car up, which...More

Ljubljana Castle is best visited for its spectacular panoramas. As a castle, it's not terribly interesting in terms of architecture (at least in my uneducated opinion) and not very pretty to look at. However, it does have a tower with a nice double spiral staircase,...More

Take the funicular up to the castle and explore. There’s panoramic views of the city and lots to see. The art exhibition on animal photography was very intefesfing

We decided to do the walk up to the castle, but boy was it worth it! We got our exercise and were rewarded by the spectacular views. Visiting the castle is a great way to start your trip.

Interesting place with bits of interest but the main reason for going is the views from the tower. Really a must on a visit to Ljubljana

A well organised place. Can get busy at ticket area. Funicular smoothly takes you up. Can be windy at top. Excellent views (IF weather is good!).

Cool castle with great views of the city. Only €8 for adults to enter and worth the views and access to things like the prison, tower, and guard station. We took a trolley down which was easier than the long hike we did up to...More

It's a nice walk up to the castle, or there's a lift you can take for a couple of Euros if preferred. The castle itself is well-maintained, but the real treat is the 360 view from the top. A really stunning way to look down...More

Statistically, from the top of the clock tower, one gets to see 1/3rd of Slovenia's area! It's just mesmerizing that at not much of a height, you can look at the greater part of the country!

The Ljubljana Castle is accessed by a vernacular in the Old Town. (There is a foot path, but not many people use it. The best option is to take the vernacular up and walk down.) The castle itself is nothing special. The main reason to...More

We visited the Ljubljana Castle during the evening, prior to our dinner in one of the castle restaurants. Although it's a bit steep, I definitely recommend going to the castle on foot. There are 2 main paths: one starting in the market square, and another...More

There is no parking at the top. The two ways to get up are via walking or taking the funicular railway.

the dogs are allowed on the premises of the castle, but I am not sure about the funicular, you can always walk to the castle, very nice track
