This city square is of course not so popular as Old Town. However it is really worth to see it.
In World War II, during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, the square was completely destroyed and 80% of houses were completely demolished, including the church. After the war, the square was reconstructed in the 18th-century style and reconstruction lasted until 1955.

I live just a few steps from The New Town Square and I must say that I like the fact that not many tourists reach it ;)
But...I will recommend it because this is something tha should not be omited when you are in Warsaw visiting The Old Town.
So when you'll see The Barbicane don't turn arround! Go straight another 250 meters and enter absolutely splendid area. After a short walk take a seat at Freta 33 restaurant, order a beer and enjoy the beautiful view on the white church. It's beautiful especially in the sunset.
Winter view is a must-see too! Enjoy :)

While Old Town is an absolute must see when in Warsaw New Town, which is just a short stroll away, lacks much character and the main square is almost devoid of people and activity. There are some interesting shops in the area but that's about it.

It was while having dinner at an outside table on the side of the square that we got a full appreciation of its special aspects. Throughout the couple of hours it was tranquil and relaxing.
Post-dinner we had a leisurely stroll around the lovely space. Fine architecture is to be seen in the numerous gorgeous facades, many with decorative motifs of various symbolic images. One in particular has a wonderful line of horses and carriages in various stages of activity against a faded reddish background.
An eye-catching sculpture of a bear grasping a shield is to be seen. The old style pump is an apt addition.
A number of churches are delightful. St Casimir's affords a fine vista against the evening sky. A dramatic statue of St Benedict is adjacent. Nearby the grand Redemptorist church of St Benon is well worth a visit.

We had a stop over flight and spent the entire day in this area with the kids. There were beautiful restaurants, shops and historic sights. The area was well kept, renovated, clean. What a nice memory. We ended up spending the day again on our way back from our trip. A nice cultural experience. So worth it.

Unlike rynek starego miasta this square is not big and noisy with tourists sitting outside eating and drinking or shopping for souvenirs. It is a much more modest plaza with an old water pump and a statue of a bear in one corner. Places to sit and people-watch and also some eateries on the margin. Just not the same intensity as the above-mentioned.

Old town is technically the end or beginning of old town. Unlike Old town, New town is more on the quiet side whilst Old town is more bustling and touristy.
New town is an extension of Old town but with newer model buildings. Lots of stores and restaurants are around and still carries a nice laid back vibe.

This square lies north of the Old Town and is connected to it by Freta street.
It is a picturesque square not so busy of course like the old town square and with a Church of Saint Casimir (built at the end of XVII Century).
You do not have much to do here, just take a couple of photos and then walk to Freta street.

During all the year this cute square is full of markets, like Christmas ones, with handmade souvenirs, sweets, chocolate and hot wine. The church is a perfect background for the happy atmosphere.
