In winter there is also a beautiful Christmas Tree. During the day, could become very crowded due to many tourists groups but still beautiful area.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 December 2023
- Ljubica BLondon, United Kingdom7,751 contributionsBeautiful internal architectureLovely place to get lost when is raining or snowing… on the ground floor you have a nice art collection where you can see couple of Rembrandt jobs… silver, jewellery, guns etc, the upper floor the rooms are so beautiful like the chapel, the king throne room, the conference room. Highly recommend to visit this place . There is a coffee area and restaurant if you are hungry, cloakroom is available. Toilets are available on the ground floor. Tickets cost £15 you can pay with card and cash. All is written in polish people don’t speak English.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 April 2024

Don't confuse Castle Square with Old Town Square (they are about a five minute walk apart). Castle Square is vastly larger and occupies prime real estate outside of the restored Palace. It bustles with activity at all times of the day with families taking over in the evening even during cold weather, At the centre of the square is Sigismund's Column which was originally built in 1644. It was almost completely destroyed by the Germans in 1944 but then restored and installed in 1946.

Castle Square is the hub of activity in Old Town of Warsaw. Relatively quiet in the morning, by noon, the square is humming with vendors, entertainers, and photo-snapping tourists. As the name implies, the Royal Castle overlooks the square, which also features King Sigismund's Column.

Definitely the most visited attraction in Warsaw. It is located in the huge and beautiful square of the same name, where Sigismondo's Column also stands. A succession of rooms and rooms rich in gilded stucco, paintings, vases and clocks. You can buy the ticket either online or at the ticket office where you won't waste much time. Ticket price 100 pln. The ticket also includes the very useful and detailed audio guide.

Probably the best part of the old town lots of tourists and locals around.
During Xmas a wonderful huge Xmas tree decorated the middle of the square.
With restaurants around the perimeter it’s a great meeting place to sit down and watch the day/night go by.

We still enjoyed a christmas tree although it was high tine to take it out. Particular recommendable to visit by evening when the royal castle is lighted.
Spend some time on the stairs at the Zygmunt III Waza colon. It is a meeting pount in Warsaw.

Always lot of people. However Royal Castle in Warsaw is a place which is on "must to see" place, this is very difficult to come here and enjoy the place. Always lot of people and lot of events (loud events). Old Town together with Castle Squeare is really nice place to see, but I am sorry, the castle squere is not my beloved.

A large square, rebuilt to look like pre World War II Warsaw. Lacking soul and life, yet bustling with tourists and beggars with open cups. Walk through, glance around and continue on your journey throughout War I Saw.

Completely leveled by the retreating Germans in World War II, this central Castle square has been rebuilt and returned to its former glory. Great place for photos and appreciating much of the Old Town area. The entire area is very walkable and pleasant for taking your time. Uber/taxis can get you close, but it's advisable to have them stop nearby vice right by the square as traffic often comes to a standstill during the tourist season.

Hi there
My boyfriend and I have krakow booked for next week 18-22 March. We are supposed to be travelling from Dublin.
We are not sure whether to continue with the trip, or cancel it due to corona virus. Are most tourist places still open? I’m aware museums are starting to close etc. Just wondering if it will be worth it for us to go as we wanted to visit Auschwitz etc.
We were planning to fly out of Warsaw and get the train from krakow to Warsaw.
If anyone could provide us with some information that would be great

its worth the visit... there the G12 bus lane at the bus krakow station... its $3 USD... 12 zloty... cheap.. and takes about 2 hours to get there..
