The Division of the Museum is located in two Gothic tenement houses, one of which is supposedly the birthplace of the great astronomer, Nicholas Copernicus. One can visit there burgher`s interiors (the 16th-19th cent.) and get acquainted with their mediaeval design. Visitors can find there documents and mementos connected with the life and work of the great discoverer. In the basement of the House there is an interactive exhibition "The world of Toruń gingerbread". While visiting it guided by a townswoman tourists have opportunity to both taste and bake gingerbread, find out the details of gingerbread making history, as well as get acquainted with spices used to make this speciality of Toruń.

We had a nice time visiting the home of Copernicus. It was great to be able to step back in time and see where he lived. We happened to go on a Wednesday, when the museum was free. That, combined with the time of year (early May) meant we hit a LOT of school field trips. There were a lot... More

We visited a few other sites in Torun, and as a repeat visitor, I was thrilled to see upgrades that had been completed in the past 2 years. Deutsch and English offered everywhere! House of Kopernika was no different, they had some beautiful upgraded displays, but one detail missing. No English language, no other languages were offered besides Polish. We... More

The museum gives a very good insight to the works of an industrious man. The tour is well pointed out and the information is in several languages. Definitely wortha visit.

The information and instruments are well exhibited. Anyway, it will be better if they have more english explanation.

I had a great time at the House of Copernicus, It is now a museum. Notice that there's a typical upper floor design with a balcony and/or pulley, which the residents use to lift commodities and stored in the attic.

Given that Copernicus is of truly international and historical importance, I would have thought that much greater attention would have been paid to representing his life and works in the town of his birth. Alas, it was not so! The house itself is charming, I suppose, but the displays therein were mono-lingual and so impenetrable to one such as I... More

This was true time-travel: back to the 1950s, when museums were dull, stuffy and required hawk-like eyesight to read incredibly small labels, which failed to put the objects in question into any sort of intellectual or social context. Obviously bored 'staff' stood listlessly about, ready to tell us what not to do. For the (possible) birthplace of one of the... More

This two buildings belonged to Copernico's father, a merchant from Krakow, who moved to Toruń circa 1456, Upon visiting them one can get a glimpse of what the interiors of burghers' houses from the 14th to the 19th century looked like, Although not at this address do look for the house of Copernico´s grandparents on his mother's side.

Not for feint of heart. Stairs, stairs more stairs. Still very cool place. Nice n cool when hot outside. Really neat place with historical importance. Maybe boring for kids? Go, learn, have fun.
