It was too full to enjoy during the Easter celebrations, but we went back again to get a proper look and it was well worth it. I like to see churches, but not for too long, but this one seemed to stand out as different. It has so many different elements inside, if you are interested in history, you could... More

The Tusmki Island would not be so beautiful without the Cathedral, maybe the most important in Poland and one of the most beautiful. The two towers are like a city landmark and the interior looks so beautiful and ornated. Unfortnately, I couldn't visit it for too long because a service started, so I would reccomend for everyone to check the... More

The most stunning building on Ostrow Tumski (Cathedral Island) is certainly the Cathedral of St Peter & Paul. Built originally in 968 it has been rebuilt many times after being destroyed. It was almost destroyed again in 1945 when its gothic elements were exposed and then restored to what you see today. This is a truly beautiful church by any... More

This is where Christianity began in Poznan. A beautiful building, ornate and full of Poznan history. Many local people pop in to say a prayer and to worship.

Compared to other Cathedrals in Poland, like in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw, it is an interesting place, not only for catholics and pray. Key historic place for the history of Poland and of Poznan.

The cathedral was built on an island between two rivers and is about a kilometre and a half from the city centre. It is certainly worth the walk or a tram ride. There are excellent explanations in English and make sure you take a 5 PLN coin to light the golden chapel up.

This cathedral together with surrounding buildings and smaller church is located on the Ostrów Tumski island and reminds a bit of similar setting of the Wrocław Cathedral (they actually share long history of relationships...). It's a big gothic church which was rebuild after the war in a very nice way.
