Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

"Cathedral island", dating back to the 10th century, boasts the cathedral and other religious buildings. It's quiet and quite separate from the rest of Poznan. I walked there as it's not a massive distance, but due to aching legs took the tram back.

Very relaxed and beautifull small area ? especially after the Town centre. on the Island but easy to get to by trams or even walking.
A nice number of coffee shops and sights worth seeing. Do you homeowork. Basically the origin and centre of Poland. Do the tour of its origins its cheap enough.

Ostrow Tumski (or Cathedral Island) was more than just the site for the Poznan Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. It was also interesting to just explore the oldest part of Poznan, roam the village streets and view the various religious buildings. Worth a short stroll but visiting the Poznan Cathedral should be primary focus.

This is an old part of town but about 15 mins walk away from the main square. So in the sunshine it's a nice way to move away from the built up heart of Poznan. Very small and just over the river, the area consists of the cathedral and a few old small streets. However, it's worth just walking onto view Lake Malta from here before walking back into town.

Ostrow Tumski is actually on an island with several bridges that cross over the river. Lovely buildings, cathedral and museum, all well worth a visit.

Ostrow Tumski is a great little area of Poznan just across the River Warta that's such an historic part of this city ,in fact the city of Poznan originates from Ostrow Tumski .
The most defining feature of this area is obviously Poznan Cathedral ,one of the oldest religious buildings in Poznan ,it's a peaceful area ,some other nice religious buildings here and some cool looking old streets ,all in all it's a great area of the city to visit if you're planning a holiday to Poznan .

This islet (Ostrow) in the Warta river is associated with the birth of the Polish nation, as Mieszko I, Poland's first Christian ruler founded a settlement here in the 900s. Jordana, the missionary who baptized the king initiated the construction of a cathedral (Tum).
Unlike Ostrow Tumski in Wroclaw which was an exclusively religious Catholic center, the island settlement in Poznan started as a center for both worldly and religious power. Currently they are restoring the church of the virgin Mary which used to be part of the royal castle structure. Of course the dominant building on the island is the cathedral. A bridge towards the northeast is named after Jordana, the missionary.

Cathedral Island was one of the main political centres in the early Polish state and the cathedral is one of the oldest churches in Poland, dating back from the 10th century.

still it's so absorbing, so many impressions, past voices, past images. People who no longer exist, whose traces are so difficult to find and follow. Genius loci is the first must, then visit the ICHOT (Porta Posnania Museum) on the other side of the river, where you can see a millenium in a day. A cathedral is where the remains of Polish first rulers found their burial place.
