Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The local Poznan national museum, http://www.mnp.art.pl/en has a fine collection of older paintings (including a Monet, a Boticelli and a number of other masters) and often interesting well-curated exhibitions like the present Titian/Veronese/Tiepolo-exhibition. Free entrance for the normal exhibition on Saturdays, btw.
The English website is not updated properly - at least at the moment - but don't let that scare you aware.
Photography is allowed without flash. (Very good, btw!)

First, this is an ART MUSEUM, as others have noted. I consider myself knowledgeable about Western European art in general; not an expert, but with broad superficial knowledge. But I was blown away by the quality and quantity of paintings I had never heard of by artists I have never heard of that rival much of what is in the Louvre or the Tate. If you like art, particularly of the 19th and 20th century, this is a *don't miss* in Poznan. Reasonable prices *BUT CASH ONLY* and in local currency. Fortunately there are ATMs not too far away.

On my first visit I went to see their Monet, only to learn that it had been stolen. During our years in Poznan, the Monet was recovered, so I did finally get to see it. In the end, it was disappointing. There were other pieces I enjoyed more, maybe it was one of his early works.
They have a huge collection of Polish art in an interesting building.

I have been meaning to go to the museum for a long time, as I live in Poznan - finally I went, on a Saturday when the entrance to the museum is free... I am so glad I didn't pay!! I was very interested in the Polish artists art (luckily I did some research before going because there isn't any there for visitors except the names). I heard that there was also a monet but when I went there were a lot of renovations being done and the upstairs was closed - when i tried to ask one of the women who worked there for some directions (she was sat lazily on a chair doing nothing btw) she just grunted back without even looking at me "CLOSED"... nice... As we went to the toilet before leaving we noticed an available lift, so we decided to get in it and see where it would take us! We found a whole other area with more classical art... which was surprising because there was NO information at all about this, despite all the renovations, no one offered help and there was no map available! I'm so happy we went exploring!
But the worst thing we experienced on that day was the exhibition of installation - which I hate, personally, but was imposed on all the 'secret' part of the museum because of the screens that were installed in inappropriate places (including the classical arts section!) and in the central part of the museum, so the soundtrack/NOISE could be heard everywhere and completely destroyed my whole visit... my only question - WHY???!!

There are two building, the new and the old museum. In the new part mainly Polish painters with excellent works. We found some new names and paintings, what we have to learn. In the old part European art - Spanish, German, French, Flamish - practically all old masters. IT IS A MUST VISIT FOR ART LOVERS!

Didn't have a lot of time but I spent about 90 minutes skimming the museum. Mostly Polish art with which I am not familiar. Pleased to find some wonderful examples of impressionism as well as some early Church and Political art
