    Xmas market
The xmas market was in the old town square not a very big market but the usual things on offer, the other market and fair ground was in the Freedom square. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the old town great if you dont want to walk far all open late. Ice sculpting was going on whilst we were there 8th Dec.

    It's looking beautiful again
The Old Market Square is a beautiful part of Poznan which offers so much to see and do. Highlights, Town Hall and its mechanical bill goats, Architecture design of the buildings really make the square stand out, Colourful Budnicy House, Monuments, Museums, Fountains. The square also offers many cafes, bars, restaurants, boutique shops, and many photo opportunities. Was there in October 2023 when they were still doing the construction work on the square which was disappointing for me. If you look at Poznan Old Market Square live cam today, you will see they have completed all the work on the square in 2024. Poznan is a beautiful city to visit and looking forward to returning to get the photo l miss out on.

Looking good now the resurfacing has finished
I held off visiting Poznan as I was aware of the significant construction work taking place in and around the square. This week I finally got to visit, and the square looks very nice, especially in the sun. I really liked the two fountains, I think they add to the character of the square and is something that Wroclaw, for example, does not have. There are plenty of bars/restaurants around the square where you can sit and take in the atmosphere. There is an ace street just off the square called Gołębia which is very lively on a weekend. However, I do think that the old town outside of the square is looking slightly run down, with lots of graffiti. In my opinion it is not as well kept as its equivalents in Krakow, Wrocław, and even Gdańsk. Maybe this is something the local authority can work on over the next few years. This wouldn’t not put me off visiting Poznan again though. Poznan is a city with a lot to offer.

A lovely experience for kids (mainly in the summer time)
The Old market square is a very beautiful and a interesting place to visit also with kids. I would especially recommend this in the summer months. In the summer time there is various entertaintment on the square from independent artists. And the buildings are quirky and colourful so it's like a little fairytale for kids. Also the small narrow streets around the square is fun for the kids. There is a lot of places to choose from when eating out with kids and something for every taste. It is a place to visit for maybe 1 hour and then a lunch somewhere nearby. Not an all-day thing in my personal opinion. But luckily there is a lot of playgrounds approx 10 min. away in almost every direction (just check your google maps first - write "plac zabaw" / playground in polish).

    Magnificent.
From the train station I reached the old town of Poznań by foot, it took me 20 minutes more or less. The path was enjoyable, Poznań it's filled with magnificent buildings. The old town isn't big. The star of the the old town is the town hall, every hour locals and tourists wait to see the two goats, symbols of the city. Unfortunately when I was there, I don't know why, the two goats didn't show, apart from that was interesting to see all the buildings around and took some pictures.

    Lovely square
Lovely town square. Very large square with loads of bars and restaurants where you can eat either inside or out.beautiful old buildings (restored), nice cobbles and the town hold and clock with fighting goats. It rained when we were there but the square looks beautiful in the dark and even in the rain.

Storybook charm! This large, walkable area is a unique and beautiful sightseeing destination in the middle of the city. Very close to the Croissant Museum and many popular restaurants. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Visited here because my wife's grandmother came from here. Were expecting something bleak and post-Communist. This was anything but !Felt Scandinavian to me. Maybe some of those Hanseatic traders brought some paint down this way. Very colorful, quaint, photogenic - not a ton of tourist stuff, but plenty of real Polish food. Plus it's an easy train ride from Berlin. Definitely worth a visit.

While Poland has done a lot in the past years to boost its appeal to tourist and promote cities like Warsawa and Krakow, are there still quite a few gems to discover and Posen defintely being one of them. We stopped in Posen for the night en route to Berlin (2,5h away) and were very much surprised by the how well the old town has been preserved and how inviting and picturesque it is. Plenty of nice cafes, gastro bars and restaurants are surrounded by colorful buildings of the 18th and 19th century. While I am surprised that people don't talk about Posen yet, am I absolutely sure that this will change in the near future.

I believe it will ber the end of 2023 before this area will be mostly finished and sadly its hard work getting around the area with JCB Bulldozers and manpower digging. It does mean NO TRAMS go anywhere near the centre but It is still worth a visit. Also the Nearby Opera house is being internally renovated, similair timescale. Dont let this put you off just expect a bit of walking and use good footwear. Their is stuill plenty of areas around the town worth a visit.

The design and set up of the old town in its classic form is a beautiful expression of an old European city. Walking the streets at night it is like you are transformed in time. It is modern enough to be tourist friendly but authentic enough to be a real true experience.

Far beyond my expectation. I was so amazed by the beauty of Poznan, as a hidden champion on the tourist must see list. The 3pm show on the city hall tower attracted so many people and it was really nice.

The old market square is lovely if you avoid looking down and only look up as it is still a building site. At least the terraces around the bars/restaurants around the square are completed so you can sit in comfort watching the building site. It will be stunning when it is completed but must be damaging the business' around the square.

The center of the old town with its nice square (right now, however, the square is being renovated so it's not so nice right now. Expected to be finished in 2024?). Many nice pubs and restaurants around! Fun with the clock that has two goats that are struck at every full hour (however, be at 12 and 3 pm during the renovation).
