About
Museum of the Factory shows the history of a textile mill complex founded by Izrael Poznański in mid 19th century. In the times of its past glory the factory produced million of metres of cotton fabrics. The exhibition shows how the factory developed in time, what was the material production technique and also how the day of ordinary factory workers looked like. You will also find photographs, documents, films, architectural plans, samples of materials and final products there. The museum offers an unique possibility to learn how the looms operated and listen to the stories of the retired factory workers.

The biggest architectural re-conversion project what I've seen so far. Hotel, cinema, restaurants, shopping mall, open space...

To understand Lodz it's important to know something about its history which is based on the textile industry. This museum gives some good insight's. Wish it were bigger but the admission price is tiny and very good value. Wouldn't recommend for small children, they won't understand what they are looking at. Best for adults who have a genuine interest in old Lodz and / or industrial heritage.

It's surprisingly small, giving a quick overview of how the factory which occupied the current Manufaktura complex fared over time. Somehow one expects more esp. given how big the factory once was.

This is a nicely restored factory complex. There appears to be a number of other institutions in the complex. The displays in the museum told a really interesting story of the industry. The machine display was extensive and up close (although "don't touch").
The films and multimedia displays really showed what it was like to be working there.
Definitely worth a visit.

Interesting small museum located in the Manufaktura center. It gives you insight of the textile industry history of Lodz city before II World War. Some very old textile machines still working - must see !

Good museum, small but interesting. Explains the awful conditions of the workers. Well worth watching the films. Very helpful staff on reception. Can't remember price but was only a few pounds.

Lots of English translations throughout was a definite positive and did convey a story but we wanted more. More of the worker's lives and more interaction. There is a room with videos of the site selectable in English or Polish but we didn't see any of it as a local had settled in for the afternoon with a couple of bags of crisps and was watching them all in Polish. They may have been informative but we will never know. We left her watching a Poltex model applying make up. There is a viewing terrace but were told that is closed for renovation. And, the precision balance they have is not set up right, the knife edges are not seated on their bearings!

Lodz owns its history to this factory. It is impossible to have a clue of Lodz without visiting this place. Moreover, the surrounding manufactura mall is a pleasant place. There are plenty of other activities you may enjoy, but visiting this museum is a must.
