In a way, our tour group, Insight Vacations, became like one of those St. Adalbert cult members, who visit the Gniezno Cathedral to see its bronze doors which depict scenes from St. Adalbert's life and to see the silver reliquary that holds his remains. Additionally,...More

This place is the ecclesiastical capital of Poland, and this church and city have a great a deep meaning for all Poles. The church and surrounding avenues are extremely pretty and certainly deserve a visit. We were driving from Torun to Poznan and stopped.

Absolutely stunning church. Failed to recognize the availability of guided audio tour that would have more fully illuminated the significance of this historic sacred place.

I rated high due to my intrest in the place, not the church building itself. Church is fine nevertheless. Unique Gniezno doors worth seeing. In the basement remains of the pogan place where ‘fire’ was kept and where you can seen the oldest burials. Tower...More

View from a roof of basilica, you need to pass 240 steps which might be a challenge but worth to do it, might be windy a little bit up there

The Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is definitely worthwhile visiting Gniezno for; although I came for a hockey tournament. The Gniezno 12th century bronze doors and climbing the west tower steps are a must. The people of Gniezno are very friendly...More

The cathedral itself has a fascinating tradition (if history or religion are your thing). Otherwise it's worth visiting for the lovely view from the cathedral tower (about 250 steps but worth climbing).
