The Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is definitely worthwhile visiting Gniezno for; although I came for a hockey tournament. The Gniezno 12th century bronze doors and climbing the west tower steps are a must. The people of Gniezno are very friendly and welcoming! Regards

The cathedral itself has a fascinating tradition (if history or religion are your thing). Otherwise it's worth visiting for the lovely view from the cathedral tower (about 250 steps but worth climbing).

If you are interested in Poland, Gniezno is a must see. It is here that originates the Polish state. It all started in the tenth century. By the end of that age, the people of early Poland had become Christan believers. Bishop Adalbert of Prague tried to bring Christianity to a langer group of people, especially to the Baltic Prussians.... More

Lovely seeing the inside of the old church. You can even walk do the top of the tower. It is quite a climb but worth it when you visit. It has an amazing view

Gniezno is beautiful old non tourist trap city in Poland. There you can eat and dring and find nice little hotels. If you will wake-up in the morning and you will find that last evening was too hard you should visit this beautiful hughe cathedral. It will help ;)

While one may visit parts of this beautiful house of worship without one, a guide can enrich the visit significantly. We had an English-speaking guide who took us into places behind locked doors and provided us with an excellent commentary on the importance of this church in Polish history. When in Gniezno, a visit to this impressive church is a... More
