Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lublin Castle is rightly considered the main attraction of the city. The castle is located on a low hill next to the old town and is a centre of concentration of museums and diverse exhibitions. Buildings of different eras have reached the present day, but on the whole a very good ensemble has developed, which causes genuine tourist interest. You can explore the courtyard completely free of charge, but admission to museums is charged. The price depends on the number of exposures you want to visit.

I will only focus on the castle chapel. If you were to come for two places in Lublin, this is one of them. One of the greatest achievements of the Polish Middle Ages. maybe only a few places in central Europe have this kind of polychrome. I will say more. Signatures of delighted people from the 16th, 18th and 17th centuries have been preserved on the walls of the temple. the captions themselves are first-class monuments. if I were to come to Lublin for two things, it would be Majdanek and the chapel in the castle.

We were quite late in the afternoon arriving here so booked the main bit.
The exhibition was good as you went round, but there seemed to be more are exhibitions, which is fine if you are in to art. It was little disappointing as we thought it would be more old castle things inside and maybe the old prisons to see.

I was visiting the castle in the evening so the museum inside was already closed. But after a quick read of Wikipedia I realized how cool it is to be in the place that starts its roots back in the 12th century!

There's a "square" inside, and generally the castle reminded me a miniature town inside Lublin. It's cute and neat.

Very well maintained with a great history. Unfortunately buying the tickets can be quite confusing. I would avoid to buy the tickets using the tickets mashine and go to the tickets office. It took us around 2 hours to see everything.

On a low hill sits the castle, right
Kinda pale, you could call it white
You get there on a bridge,
There's stairs but seriously use the bridge.

On the inside are many exhibitions,
Lifestyle, paintings, coins, weapons
And yet the chapel was our favourite
In there they prayed to the Holy Spirit

The tower is pretty nice too,
From there you get a good view
On one side it's the mall
Turn around, it's the old town standing tall

There's also a lot of contemporary exhibits,
For us, that's just not lit,
But in the end, anyway,
The castle was more than okay

Very charming Old City. Dates back form middle ages. Beautiful renaissance buildings, old churches. Tree very unique gates, each very different one from the other. Krakowska Gate, Trynitarska Gate and Grodzka Gate. Trynitarska Gate is has the tallest tower in town. There is golden rooster on the top instead of a cross. There is museum in the gate and you can climb stairs to access the best view in town. There is relaxed atmosphere with lots of small restaurants and old wine cellars around This Old City is a pearl not yet discovered by tourists.

To be fair: that's all we saw that day. We went to see the castle on a Monday, but the castle itself is closed on Mondays. The only thing you can do is visit the chapel. But this chapel is really stunning. All the walls are painted with different scenes of the bible. It's well maintained. The entrance fee's a little hefty, though.

Build in the 13th century the castle has a special view overlooking the town and surrounding area. It is one of the oldest preserved Royal residences in Poland. It has a long history of elegance and ruin. It also served as a Tsarist prison for 128 years and most infamously as a Nazi prison during their occupation when 40,000/80,000 people passed through the prison. Just before withdrawing in 1944 they executed 300 prisoners here. A further 300 plus people lost their lives here during Soviet occupation. In 1954 the castle prison was closed. It is now the main tourist attraction in Lublin and is the site of the Lublin museum. It is a truly impressive site which should not be missed when in Lublin where you will also find the Trinity Chapel and Tower (Donjon).

The Castle towering above the old city and what used to be the Jewish quarter of Lublin is fully renovated and is now home to a small group of museums, a coffee joint and an observation tower (definitely worth the climb - the views are stunning). The castle used to home prisons and torture chambers dating back to early medieval times, then, Nazi hold of Poland (where numerous elite poles lost their lives slowly and painfully on these grounds) and as recently as the Soviet regime - holding and "getting rid of" dissidents there.

Do not miss the Chapel with its newly discovered Ancient decoration. Worth the visit in any way.
