- annminkyUnited States3,937 contributionsMy Little FriendsWhenever I remember the gnomes of this beautiful city, I smile. My family and drove to this city last January. Oh my goodness! It was so cold. But seeing all this cute gnomes made us happy. We were told there are 288 gnomes or dwarves around. We searched and took tons of pictures. If you visit this place, beware of the gnomes who will captivate your heart and make you smile 😊.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 March 2024
- MrThomas1981Ipswich, United Kingdom956 contributionsFun experience - do the touristy thing! There are two ways to enjoy this - freestyle (wander round and photograph the ones you like the look of) or pro tourist - for the latter head to the nearest souvenir shop on the square and buy the tour sticker book for about £4. It's well worth it as finding them all will be hours of entertainment! There are two versions, one for the main square area and one for the river bank area. If you have time, do them both. If nothing else, you will pass plenty of coffee shops and bars to divert into if it's raining and you'll see some of the city as well!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 March 2024

Many restaurands offer fine dishes. The Kathedral island is also some walking from the hotel. Warfs amazing.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 August 2024

Of course Wroclaw is not only little dwarfs, but I think this is a lovely and amusing way to walk through the city. If you don't like them, you can ignore them, but if you want , it is funny to look for these little figures all around the city. We have found one even at the rooftop of the St.Mary Magdalene's Church.
For me (a 58yo. woman) worthed the effort to search for them. I can imagine that for a family with children is even better (in fact, many times I had to wait for my photo until all the children got theirs).

Super cute way to spend time. Search for those adorable dwarfs around Main Square, and all over the City .Each one is different, represents different skills, characters. You can get a map to help you find them. We had lots of fun!

Wrocław’s dwarfs are a very nice and cute activity to experience in Wrocław: there’re almost 1000 dwarfs in the city. We stayed only two days so we found only 65 dwarfs, but this challenge was really funny and enjoyable, so it improves our staying in this beautiful city. We’re just a little bit disappointed about its sponsorship: there’s not an explication of the dwarfs meaning around the city and we discovered only at the end of our staying that a specific application was created in order to find the dwarfs, this touristic activity should be better valorised.

It is so much fun to look for the little gnomes! They are very small, but when you find the first ones, you start seeing them everywhere. It is interesting that they started as a protest against fascism. There are specific gnome tours that you can take, but it's fun just to find them while you are seeing other sites as well.

In the next seven years, an incredible two hundred and fifty statues of little elves were added to the city. They are absolutely everywhere, hiding in side streets and on main streets, you can meet them by the river or in front of church entrances. There are currently several hundred of them on display, and more are being added.

When planning our holiday, spotted this feature of Wroclaw, and just had to do this! They are everywhere! Spotted the first one outside the bus station, the next one at the post office, then just kept seeing them. So fun! Saw a lady with a map of gnomes, some youth snapping photos as they walked along. Would love to vcome back and find more gnomes!

The city of Wroclaw is dotted with little gnomes in every corner and in every street.
It was great fun to intersperse the visit of the city with the search for these small statuettes, all different and all very funny.
However, at the end of the day, without realizing it, we had covered 28 kilometers on foot!!!

We knew about the Wroclaw dwarves but they were not high on our agenda. In the end we just fell in love with the little fellows and were always happy to see a new one. We didnt find that many over the few days we were in the city but just loved their quirkyness.

Is a week ample time to be in Wroclaw?
Written 22 July 2017
Yes, plenty of time. It's a very compact centre. You could do all the major sites in a couple of days to be honest. But it's very pleasant- the square in particular and cheap for a good tourist destination. There are a few places you can visit on day trips although I didn't. Thoroughly recommend! 😃

Hola Virginia!!

Buen viaje =)
