We visited when it was quiet and firstly took the elevator to the top for a small fee. The views were excellent and you got a different look at the city and the river. The cathedral itself was very pretty and clean and in a lovely area of Wroclaw. Well worth a visit.

To visit the top of the tower, go in the main entrance and look for two tiny winding stone staircases on your left. The notices are in Polish, so which one you need is not obvious... it's the second one. You go up a flight of these really ancient spiral steps and you get to a room where you buy a ticket (just 5 zloty - about £1) to get in the lift. An attendant stamps your ticket and takes you up in the lift, to the top of the tower. There's a fabulous view across the city. When you come down in the lift, you go down the other tiny staircase (that you passed coming in) and come out near the front entrance of the church.

On Cathedral Island, a very peaceful place with dramatic stained glass windows. You can see photos of the damage done to the cathedral when it lost both its spires, which are now fully restored. You can get a lift up to the viewing platform round one of the spires for 5NPZ (about £1.00). We had coffee and cake in the cathedral cafe, where sparrows ate crumbs out of my hand -one of the best parts of the holiday!

This is a wonderful cathedral that is very nice outside and in. The twin spires are most impressive, but inside is even more impressive - huge stained glass windows, wonderful decoration, and commemorative plaques. Absolutely worth a visit!

Heart broken because I didn’t have enough time...
It is not all about this cathedral, it is mostly about the whole setting. The impressive church is in the middle of a magical place, my only regret is that I didn’t have more time to spend around and did not even visit the university gardens. The cathedral is imposing, dominates the whole area with its height and stance. It stands tall and graceful on the North side of Wroclaw on what I think is the most beautiful city on Oder and Poland.
Actually, the entire Wroclaw is a jewel and simply cant plan seeing Poland without seeing this city, it will leave you breathless.

Just go!

Climb (or take the elevator rather) to the top for great views of Ostrow Tumski and Wroclaw! Worth the 5 zloty per person!

An example of gothic architecture worth visiting, in unique two-level construction.

Definitely it is the most imposing building on the Cathedral Island. The whole interior is huge with significant monuments, interesting and majestic.

A visitor can read the church's history through a glass case in front and see the photos of the building following the Soviet Union bombings during WWII. Also photos of Pope John Paul II visit.

It took 46 years from the end of the World War II to complete its restoration. The fact that the people did it against the backdrop of communist repression, is a testament to their spirit.

Inside the visitor can see the altar representing Mary Falling Asleep, the J.Urbanski pulpit and several other chapels.

On the left there is a lift to the belfry (56 meters high) to enjoy the beautiful view, under a small fee.

Open: Monday - Saturday from 10:00 – 16:30, and Sunday from 14:00 16:00.
Closed on religious holidays.

I think that cathedral offers the best panorama in Wroclaw. You can get to the left tower of cathedral by lift. The entrance to the tower is in the cathedral, so be quiet when Mess is celebrated. You will see from the viewing platform Hala Stulecia, Ostrow Tumski, some other churches, Town Hall and Sky Tower. There is no glass here so that's why that place take advantage of Sky Tower. When the weather is nice you can see Sleza or even farther mountains ranges.
The hole interior of the cathedral is really huge, interesting and majestic.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, a Gothic church with Neo-Gothic additions, is a city landmark. The cathedral, which dates back to 1272, was almost destroyed during World War II. This house of worship is well worth visiting. While photographs were permitted, the cathedral was fairly dart and many of the pictures I took were not to my liking. Be sure to take the lift to the top of one of the church towers; there you will get a good view of the city. There is a fee to use the elevator, and there are a number of steps before one can reach the lift level.

The cathedral has great atmosphere. Beautiful gothic architecture both exterior and interior. Baroque chapels in italian style added behind the main altar. Note the medival "sex with the goat" decoration on the left side on the main entrance :)
