What struck me most about this church in Podgorze is a statue of Karol Wojtyla in medieval style, recently added to the facade. Also after entering the church the first sculpture you come across is again Karol Wojtyla brightly illuminated by a spotlight. It is as if this recent addition almost overshadows the historic figure of Joseph (father of Jezus). It fits into a (Polish) pattern of almost equalizing Catholicism with revering Karol Wojtyla who as pope John Paul II indeed impacted the present day conservative interpretation of the Catholic religion significantly, but from a historic perspective might turn out to be only a modest contributor.

You've probably done many churches north of the river but this one is a must-do. We navigated to it from the Krakus Mound. Jaw-dropping exterior, and you also have the whole square in front to really appreciate it. Plus very nice gardens to the side to have a rest and admire the beauty.

Absolutely beautiful. Take time to sit and take it all in. So peaceful, calm and a lovely place to be..The building and architecture is stunning. One of my favourite places we saw whilst in Krakow.

Just kidding in the title, although it truly reminds you of Disneyland palace - and obviously it is much older! It is yet another imposing church in Krakow located in the easily overlooked historical town of Podgórze (known mostly for the Nazi German ghetto located here during WW2). Explore the nearby Krzemionki - big green hill with wonderful park, old church of St. Benedict, 1300 years old Krak Mound (dedicated to the man, who established Krakow according to the legend) and piece of 19th century fortifications. Also adjacent to the church you may find the house where Roman Polanski was living in the time of the ghetto.

This area really didn't feel touristy but it was so worth a visit. There is a little square in front of the church where you can take very nice photos and a cool park behind it.

The Church Of St Joseph is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful Churches in Krakow.
Church Of St Joseph ( Kosciol Sw Josefa) is the standout feature on Plac Podgórski ,a beautiful Roman Catholic church ,this huge red bricked church looks ancient but was constructed between 1905 _ 1909 and is an amazing piece of architecture, a great example of Gothic Revival style architecture that's so pleasing on the eye ,the exterior is stunning but the interior is even better ,the alter, side alters and windows are fabulous, designed by architect Jan Sas Zubrzycki this beautiful church is a landmark building,in 1999 the church underwent some great renovation, the alter and pulpet were painstakingly restored to their former beauty and a visit to this church is such a joy.
Easy to locate on Ulica Jana Zamoyskiego in the vibrant Podgorze district and most definitely well worth checking out.

Main feature of the square is this very imposing church. Walk up the steps and you get a great view of the area. Bit bleak in March but sure it’s great in summer.

The church was built between 1905 and 1909, and designed by Jan Sas Zubrzycki in the Gothic Revival style. It is the largest church in the area.
The interior of the church is shaped in the likeness of a Gothic cathedral in the so-called Gothic Vistula style. It is filled with numerous altars, benches and other items made mostly of wood. Work on the fittings lasted for years.
In the postwar period, the locations of some of the altars and pulpits were changed, as well as a bricked arcade between an ambulatory and the former chapel of the Sacred Heart (now Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Eternal Adoration). The altars created first were the main chapel (in the sanctuary) and the Annunciation (formerly in the right arm of the transept). Work on them was from 1908 to 1909.
The main altar originally consisted of the tabernacle and statues of Saint Joseph. In main altar in the west (right) arm of the transept stands the altar of the Annunciation. There are 5 other main altars.

We decided to take a walk across the Wiska River on the Father Bernatek Footbridge to the district of Porgodze to see this church built in the 1900s in the Gothic Revival style. The church sits at the end of this long square and the church rises up very high with its spectacular red bricks and 3 spires/towers. It is quite an impressive site to find a church like this in this small district.

The interior of the church is Gothic inn style with and is filled with multiple altars and the abundant use of reds and blues to contrast the white washed walls with grey trimmings. There is not a lot of gold and marble as this is a simple Catholic church but yet it is quite beautiful but simple.

If you have time and you enjoy visiting different churches, this is one to visit and enjoy.
