This beautiful well-maintained garden is huge (10ha) and harbors a treasure of trees, scrubs, flowers and other flora from all over the world. An impressive 220 year-old oak tree marks the time the botanical garden was started.
Adding to its attractiveness is the peaceful and quiet atmosphere. No distracting commercials or noise, no litter but modestly working gardeners who keep the gardens in their best possible condition. All plant specimen have signs in Latin and are often grouped in different eco-clusters. Personally I liked the Japanese and Australian sections, but the rose garden and ponds with lilies are a delight as well.
Entrance fee 9 Zloty (seniors 5 Zloty)

This is a beautiful hidden gem! I would describe it more as a park, it is huge and very varied. We strolled their from the Old Town (about 15 mins walk) and spent over 2 hours enjoying, exploring. It has a lovely little terraced cafe in the garden with outdoor seating it was busy when we visited so had to give this miss.

A unique place in every respect, whenever the weather is favorable it is worth visiting the Botanical Garden. All plants are arranged in educational sections, greenhouses and ornamental collections. There are several Natural Monuments, educational boards, and monuments to botanists such as Józef Warszewicz and Marian Raciborski. A large area where you can freely walk, admire beautiful colorful plants, an amazing collection of cacti, and enjoy the sight of unique specimens not seen every day. There is also a small cafe in the Garden where you can drink delicious cold drinks, lemonades, juices, hot drinks such as coffee or tea, but also eat wonderful, colorful and tasty pastries that you can't resist.

The signage to the ticket entrance was not so easy to find. Unfortunately there was construction going on in the gardens, on the day we went. There were only two porter loos available, that were a little unpleasant. And the noise from the builders work tools, were noisy. Which spoilt that ambiance. Additionally some of the paths were taped off, because of the work. What we did see, was indeed lovely. Some great autumnal flowers in bloom. The cafe was excellent, lovely cakes and shakes. And great staff.

Nice place with full of old trees. Every tree or plant has a name, age and origin. I visited this place in winter most of the trees are dry but in summer it’s must to visit this place. The tour might take one hour. It will be good if they will add English translation because everything was written in Polish, the tour guide was explaining for us everything, if you are alone it will be difficult to understand what’s written.

Considering we visited end November, we didn’t expect flowers in bloom or indeed trees with leaves, and this was correct of course.
Entrance isn’t well signed until you’re at the front. Little information provided at the ticket office. Basic public toilets. Museum is just a couple of rooms. Everything is in Polish which is ok as this is Poland but if welcoming other nationalities, English is a very common alternative and signage/information in English might be very useful.
What is good is that most plants and trees are named, and the plant house is excellent (one plant house was closed but this was stated in the website).

This is a must see for anybody who is into horticulture or landscaping. I spent over 5 hours in here just wondering around the trees, gardens, flowers. The grounds are exquisite with trees, plants from all over Europe and Asia. The orchid house has some of the most interesting orchids. I found a lot of peace just walking around and seeing the sites. Very affordable to go and gives a break from the crowded area of the main square.

Nice surprise with the visit of the Krakow Botanical Garden
Most of the time botanical gardens are often boring (except for Singapore)
It is charming, huge and has important Collections of perennials, trees and tropical plants.
Everything is perfectly labeled with the right names in Latin.
A very nice place to take a breath after the cross crowds in the old town.
Congratulations to the garden manager because the whole is maintained and the plants regenerated

This is a beautiful place. Calm, tranquil, and an oasis in the summer heat. Very reasonable entrance fee and there’s also a lovely cafe which serves drinks, cakes and ice cream. Would definitely go back.

Excellent! Very pretty greenhouses and flower beds. Many interesting plants and cute ducklings. Had a coffee with lively quiche and cake at the café too. Spend a good three hours in total.

Hi
Is there much to see if we are planning to visit in January? Like will the green houses be open? Do they have a winter garden?
Thanks
Written 23 September 2019
The greenhouses do not open on Fridays. There will be things to see but bear in mind it is winter.
Costs very little to enter so I would say it's worth a visit.

The nearest stop is Rondo Mogilskie. You can check any route o public transport in Krakow on Jak Dojade website. I can't post the link but google it and it'll come up. The website is in English as well :) Hope it helps!

Yes there is a tram stop about 10 minutes walk away - faster if you are a quick walker! The stop we used was called Rondo Mogilskie - its actually located on a large roundabout and is served by several tram lines.
