Running north to south, from rynek glówny in Krakow's old town towards the heart of Kazimierz its former twin city, ulice Grodska is lined with historic buildings most of them dating from the late 19th century. A fire in 1850 severely damaged older medieval structures. Old Grodska used to be 1/3 narrower. Nowadays most businesses like restaurants, bars, souvenir and boutique shops are geared to tourists. Don't forget to look up. The facades of some buildings are beautiful, but the atmosphere is very much determined by mass tourism.

Busy and atmospheric! One of the main walking streets in the Old Town and part of the Royal Route. Always busy and lined with shops, restaurants and bars. Walking street only meaning no cars!

We had a stroll down Ulica Grodzka whilst following the Royal Route through old town Krakow.
The street itself is not long however it is full of cafe’s, souvenir shops, interesting architecture and churches to admire. The street leads from the old town square down to the Wawel Castle and is certainly not one to disappoint.

Part of the Royal Way, this street leads from the Old Market Square to the Castle & Cathedral. It is packed with fascinating buildings such as the Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Church of St Martin, the Church of St Andrew and the Church of St Giles - as well of course as bars & restaurants.

This is a central and hectic street (which is partially pedestrianized), connecting the main square and the castle.
The street features countless churches, shops and eateries and is always buzzing with life.

This historic street from 1257 is part of the Royal Route. This street leads from Main Market Square to Wawel Castle.
You can find many beautiful buildings and churches lining the street. There are also many cafes and restaurants. So it is easy to stop for refreshments while sightseeing.
