Tucked away in the maze of streets that make up the wonderful Old Town of Krakow is St John The Baptist And St John The Evangelist Church.
A great looking little church that dates from the 12th century, but much rebuilt and renovated over the 17th,18th & 19th centuries, a great example of Baroque architecture, its one of the prettiest church buildings in Krakow and easy to locate along Ulica Swietego Jana.
Well worth checking out if you're in the Old Town of Krakow.

The colorful exterior caught my eye and since it's hard for me to walk past any church...of course I went inside! It's a beautiful 12th century church located just off the main square. Definitely stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

We literally popped into this church quickly. It’s really pretty but very small and can get overlooked in comparison to some of the larger more magnificent churches to be seen in Krakow. I know this may seem silly but there was a nun in the pews when we went in and and it felt disrespectful to disturb her, so we didn’t stay later no ad a visitor. There is no charge on entry. Do look out for this one on your travels.

St John The Baptist church And St John The Evangelist Church is a beautiful little church located in the meandering Old Town street's behind the Main Market Square ( Rynek ) .
This church is ancient, constructed in the 12th century and over the centuries particularly in the 17th,18th & 19th century rebuilt and extended, originally built in the beautiful Romanesque style of architecture that is so pleasing on the eye and later in the Baroque style of architecture especially the facade of the church, the painting at the front of the church is of the gracious mother of God ,looks stunning, the interior is no less stunning, the 16th Century painting by the alter is of our lady of ransom of slaves is awesome but there's so many other lovely features in this church, the figures of St John The Baptist and St John The Evangelist are very impressive, it's just such a beautiful church to visit.
Easy to locate on Ulica Świętego Jana and well worth a look.

A gorgeous facade is to be seen with this little church. The vertical red columns decoration between the broader white sections are wonderful. It is crowned with a celestial painting of the Mother of God holding three arrows in each hand.

Originally in the Romanesque style a 17th century revamp resulted in a transformation to the Baroque.

Inside is most appealing. High decoration is throughout, which is striking in the quite compact space.

The vista along the central aisle is breathtaking. An ornate ceiling is beautifully patterned and has elements of the Gothic.

The high altar is stunning with a blue theme, lots of gilt and a central painting of a teacher and student that is symbolic.

The marvellous vista to the rear is dominated by the exquisite organ.

The Church of St. John the Baptist & St. John the Evangelist looks pain from the outside BUT once inside you will be surprised withe the main high alter and the picture of The Mother of God redeeming the slaves, the two side alters are also lovely, on the left there is a chapel were you can pray while you what to have confession, above the door inside the church is a balcony with cherubs and lace like trim, a very beautiful church dating back to the 12th century.

Another example ofa small butbeautiful and interesting 12th Cent. church , tucked among old buildings , in a small narrow alley (the corner of Swietego Thomasza & Swietego Jana) , in the heart of Old Town Krakow .
After your short visit here (with your cameras on operating mode) - you can enjoy one of the small lovely cafes right next to the church .

You can not miss it, just if you walking around. There are so many beautiful churches, buildings that maybe you don't want to visit one more. But it is worth to visit.

Krakow is a quint city of Poland. And as a tourist you can do so many things so easily. Take for example the sightseeing. And the beautiful churches and cathedrals. I literally covered the city on foot and on one such event came across the St John Evangelist Church.

It caught my attention due to its attractive outlook and once inside though small it was well maintained. You cannot escape it if you are in the old town area.
