Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For anyone interested in the history of Solidarity, visiting Sala BHP is an absolute must! Honestly, I enjoyed it just as much as the European Solidarity Centre.

Entry is free, they have refreshments available to purchase, and they have fairly inexpensive souvenirs (including replica ration cards!) available as well.

If you’re in the Gdańsk Shipyard area, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Unlike the enormous European Solidarity Centre which seems to have appeared like an enormous rusty alien spaceship on the former shipyard site, the PKB "Health and safety" building is the real deal. This was where Lech Walesa signed the accords and organised the Solidarity movement. The diorama of historical photographs, models and other artefacts culminates in the actual main hall itself which has an awe-inspiring atmosphere to it. For all it's charm (and the fact that it is free) it was empty during my visit and it is a shame that more people do not know about it. Tip: there is a small souvenir stall in the building selling Solidarity inspired materials at very cheap prices, much better than the overpriced tat you sometimes end up with in the city centre.

I visited a conference held in the ECS, which is the acronym of the real name of this place. Very good venue indeed, but their catering could step up. For a conference there are a large auditorium and several rooms for seminars or workshops.

The site in itself provides a popular exhibition about the period when Lech Walesa guided Poland away from Soviet to its current democracy. If you are lucky you may face Lech himself, which my friend did.

The structure is impressive and perhaps you interpret the architecture as a rusty ship left begins at the old shipyard. Either way, rust meets modern glass forming spacy volumes meets water. Entrance is free but pay a fee for the exhibitions.

There is a small cafe which I cannot recommend.

From old town it is just a 10-15 minutes walk.

Interesting place but only for people who are interested in history, especially the Polish one. You can gain a lot of knowledge thanks to this place.

Went here at the end of a free walking tour by Walkative . This guided walk was called Solidarity and left at 3pm.
We were lucky to have Macin as our guide. He was entertaining and informative.
This place is where the original 21 demands by Solidarity was first agreed upon.
There is the original setting and adjacent photo of this historic event.
Lots of informative photos on stands there.
Wouldn’t be the same with guided information , I feel. But with a guide- 5 stars.

a historical place for the Solidarity Movement, where agreements were signed with the communist government in 1980. if you are interested in history, visit the Solidarity museum. The BHP room may not arouse enthusiasm for you

An interesting place to visit because of its historical importance in the recent history of Poland. There are 2 rooms, the small room has lots of posters and photos but nothing in English. The larger hall is laid out for a conference and has quite an extensive history of the shipyards and models of the ships built there. Free entry and staff very friendly.

This brick built building was originally a torpedo warehouse for the u boats, after the formation of Gdansk Shipyard it became the Health and Safety Hall. This is where the Solidarity meetings took place and the 21 decrees were signed. This explains the movement, the strikes and the background. The museum also explains the history of the shipyards and the ship's that were built here. There is also a display on the u boats that were built here. Well worth a visit. The dioramas of the docks are superb. The building is behind the ESC towards the dock buildings.

I was surprised of great exhibition in these premises - I awaited just some empty hall but it was stunning. You feel the history, the Solidarity atmosphere, you can imagine how the history happened. I must recommend the cafe too.
