Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Truly an impressive monument in size, design and detail. It represents the struggle the Polish people have had to endure for centuries for their freedom. You don’t need to be able to read Polish to understand its significance.

Nice monument in a pretty area of Gdansk, very close to the river and the old town. Fine to see if passing it but I wouldn't go out of your way as it is literally just a piece of stonework. There are some seating areas around it so it was nice to sit and watch the world go by.

This sculpture was built to represent those people who have for over 700 years lost their lives defending Poland. AS the information was in Polish so it took some time to work out the significance of this monument. T

This monument was created for all of those citizens of Gdansk who fought for Polish character from the Gdansk massacre in 1308 to the end of the Second World War. Worth a visit.

For Those For The Freedom Of Gdansk is a superb monument to those who were killed in a dark chapter of Polish history and the history of Gdansk.
In 1308 knights of the Tuetonic Order slaughtered the inhabitants of Gdansk in what became known as The Slaughter.
The monument is interesting but not as interesting as the history attached to this monument.
It's relatively easy to locate on Podwale Staromiejskie.
Well worth checking out.

Represents those souls lost since 1308 in defending Poland. There is no English associated with the monument as all inscriptions are no suprise in Polish. Takes a bit of study to try to ascertain what it means. Nice sculpture in itself.
