Hidden in a small quiet street, set in a wonderfully designed garden is a gem of modernist architecture, a villa designed by an architect of Slovak origin who designed the house for himself and his family.

Very nice walk from the city center - about 40 min. You will see really nice villas. The park near the villa is also very nice. As well as the villa

Don't miss this if you love Arts & Crafts. Get the No 1 tram from the railway station (opposite side of the road) Amazing exterior and interior to the house and some good written explanations in English. The website didn't mention booking in advance, but the fact I hadn't led to consternation when I arrived, so it may be best... More

Do you like haunted places? - There is a chance that during your visit in autumn you might meet souls of people, who lived in this villa. Maybe you will not see the ghosts, but you could hear them - Dusan Jurkovic, architect and very first owner of the villa, count Fridrich Chorynsky, the next owner, Frantisek Svancara who owned... The early-20th cent. villa has been nicely restored. It contains little original furniture, but the structure itself is original and likeable. There was a good, well-informed guide and also an interesting temporary exhibition of young textile designers.

I'm a fan of Jurkovič architecture, so it was a great pleasure for to see finally this vila. The garden is nice and even the trees are grown and vila is surrounded by houses which weren't there one hundred years ago. I read that the reconstruction done by Norway grants was very successful, however if you compare with Tugendhat, I... More

Lovely villa in a peaceful part of town. We enjoyed the walk there, spotting interseting architceture as we went. The villa itself is not spectacular like Villa Tugendhat, but well worth visiting

The Jurkovic Villa is situated in a medium-sized and well-kept garden in the suburbs of Brno. The house has recently been opened to the public, but since it is a little off the beaten track you may find that there are not many other visitors there. Please note that you are not allowed to walk around in the house on... More

This is the villa of Dusan Jurkovic, who was a very famous architect and he is quite famous due to his specific style! I have enjoyed his mixture of traditional Czech and English housing with a number of improvements not seen at the time in the city. The house looks pretty fairy-tale-like, but at the same time, the functionality of... More
