We didn't go inside but the building from the outside is huge and has a very nice entrance. It's worthwhile to pass by to take a picture. This site is near other historical places of tourist interest so it's not a waste of time.

I only saw it from outside on our way to the Jewish area. Handsome building, great piece of architecture. It's located next to the river/bridge as well, you can make you way to the castle side from here.

We went to see Don Giovanni on opening night at Estates Theater and it was fabulous. We followed the earlier advice and did not skimp on tickets and opted for two box seats as it was for an anniversary - and they were worth every single penny. We did dress to impress but it was more for the over-all experience... More

The most beautiful opera House I have ever seen, bar none! Saw a show while in Prague and was treated to a stunning performance by some truly spectacular performers/musicians. I would very strongly recommend that anyone visiting Prague visit this opera house and see a performance.

Sadly I was only able to view the State Opera building from the outside due to the refurbishments, but I was lucky enough nevertheless to see the State Opera Company at the nearby Karlin Musical Theatre instead. It was every bit as good as I hoped and this first timer is I am pleased to report now hooked on this... More

We booked this in advance for an original Czech opera, and was not dissapointed, fabulous view of the stage, as it was our first time at the opera, we went for a short on, only 2 hours long, the orchestra were very good, good tip book in advance as it was sold out.

We aren't really fans of opera so we didn't go in but still nice to appreciate from the outside and nice to look at whilst walking to the Charles bridge

Beautiful building, nice architecture and interior. Unfortunately between two busy roads full of cars.

This beautiful opera house was the perfect setting for Don Giovanni, playing all Summer long. Don't save on tickets though. We were in the nosebleeds and couldn't see a thing from there. Literally, neither the stage nor the orchestra are visible from up there. Fortunately no one complained when we discreetly moved to two empty seats with a better view... More

Although I am not a fan of Opera I really appreciate the stunning buildings were operettas are performed and in any city I visit make a beeline as I love grand architecture. The STATE OPERA is awesome with its magnificent grand frontage with the set of columns in the Greek design that look superb. Illuminated at night the building looks... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
