Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

The Mihulka Powder Tower is a great looking tower found in Prague Castle.
Constructed in the 15th century and as part of the castle fortified defence systems ,its was built during the reign of King Wladyslaw II ,it was actually built to strengthen the Northern Defence Wall in 1541 .
The tower served several purposes over the centuries including being the workplace of architect Tomas Jaros who from Mikhulja Tower created the wonderful Singing Fountain in the Royal Gardens and also the Zumund Bell ,the biggest bell in St Vitus Cathedral, it was also used as a laboratory for King Rudolf II, it was severely damaged by the Swedish Army in 1649 who used the tower as a gunpowder store, powder exploded causing great damage, repaired in the following years ,what we see today is a marvellous looking tower in an amazing castle complex, if you're planning a holiday to Prague its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the Hradcany District.

Reading many of the reviews for this attraction and looking at the many photo's alongside the reviews I can see that many reviewers are mistaking this tower for the Powder Tower by Republic Square or Lesser Town Bridge Tower and Old Town Bridge Tower either side of Charles Bridge but Mihulka Powder Tower is actually in Prague Castle and was built as part of the Prague Castle Northern Fortification.
Mihulka Powder Tower was constructed at the end of the 15th century on the orders of King Vladislaw II to strengthen the Northern Castle Fortifications ,although damaged by fire in 1541 and was rebuilt by architect Tomas Jaros,in fact Tomas Jaros used the tower as a workshop ,he made some famous items here such as the Singing Fountain ( royal Garden ) and Zugmund Bell ,Prague's biggest bell housed in St Vitus Cathedral .
The tower has served several purposes such as the laboratory for Emperor Rudolph II ,the alchemists in his court used the tower to try to convince the emperor they could turn lead into gold ,after that it became a powder tower but again was badly damaged in 1649 during the occupation of the Swedish Army when the gunpowder exploded ,after this it became home to the Sacristans of St Vitus Cathedral ,nowadays it's just one of many fine structures to marvel at if you're planning a trip to Prague Castle.

A beautiful original gate, located on the Republic Square, is one of the most important gates in Prague. It was constructed in 1475 of Gothic structure. 186 stairs in the spiral staircase to the top provides an awesome view over the city. It is a fantastic photo op. Don’t miss this attraction.

One of many towers around the city - interesting to see and get a different perspective of the city from the top and a couple of rooms with some information in but overall not that great an experience. There is a 'multi-tower ticket' available which gets you in to several of them at reduced cost and if you like towers, this is probably a better value way of doing it. Cash desk is in a separate building so get your ticket first then head to the door in the tower itself.

There were only about 5 other people there when we went, so it was not crowded (1000 on a Sat in May). Quite a few steps so not handicapped friendly, but the kids (7 & 10) had no problem. Great views of the city, some neat historical facts, but kind of underwhelming. I think it was about 300 CZK (12 Euros) for the family pass. Kind of a must do in Prague, but don't get your hopes up.

Ignorant staff ruin the experience. Impressive building nonetheless but staff trying to overcharge my group as we were young backpackers was not a pleasant start. Staff unhelpful when asked what buildings were across the city. Staff also very ignorant and harassing us following our every step without any reason.

This served as a gate to the city and it's been around since the 11th century. The Powder name comes from the time when gunpowder was stored in the tower. This was one of 13 gates to the city.

This is the only place in Prague (after our stay here for a week, visiting at least 2-3 paid sights per day) which had not accepted our kids' student documents. The Rapunzel-haired guy at the cash-desk rejected ours in a rather rude manner and demonstrated unwillingness to dialogue with us even though we were the only clients at that time. Unpleasantly in contrast with everything else here, this is our worst experience in Prague so far.

The towers we have already visited and can recommend to others as very impressive and worth visiting are: Old Town Hall (the one with Astronomical Clock), St.Vitus Cathedral (Prague Castle), Petrin tower, and Zizkov tower. Planned for the next week: Old Town Bridge tower and New Mill Water Tower.
