This museum is great in educating people of all ages through several exhibitions and multiple interactive installations. They also have live animals in the backyard. Not too good information in other languages than Czech, but we loved it anyway! Children enter for free, and the price for adults is reasonable. Will consider going back there as this is so much better than the neighbouring technical museum.

Can agriculture be shown in interesting way? Yes. It does in National Museum of Agriculture in Prague. Three are several areas of agriculture like forest, fishing, etc. Some parts are interactive, there are some quizzes you can check your knowledge. There are many areas dedicated to children. On the roof of the building there is a exhibition of cereals and also nice view.

Why this place isn’t raves about in guidebooks I don’t know! It was a cold, foggy morning and we were staying just around the corner so we thought we’d visit with our 5 and 3 yr olds...Three hours later we came out!

Firstly it was reasonably priced, then we started in the basement with the ride on tractors and it just got better. Every floor was immaculately presented, with really engaging interactive displays, all of which looked in very good condition. Particular praise goes to Julius who opened up the forestry wing for us and was very good with the children and explained everything really well, even though he was worried about his lack of English. He needn’t worry, it’s very good.

To top it all off (literally) we finished on the roof garden by which time the fog had cleared, the sun was out and the views across the city were unparalleled - We had the whole terrace to ourselves. If you are in Prague with young children then make the effort to come here. Free lockers, picnics allowed on roof, live animals, pristine toilets and a very short walk to several trams which connect you to the centre.

This museum is very interactive, great for kids up to I'd say 7-10. Tons of things to touch and play with and learn as well. If only the museum staff, which is mostly comprised of older ladies, let's you enjoy it. They are on kids like Hawks, and all hell breaks loose if your child did something, mmmm, childish, like sat on a wrong tractor or took too many play groceries, or whatever. At some point, I just started ignoring them. My kid is not a destructive type, and just wants to explore. You put a plastic bead curtains to represent water, be prepared that both kids and adults are going to want to touch it. Both me and my kid surely did!

We come to Prague every Christmas and, after a few years, the number of places we haven’t visited has dwindled. We had never visited this museum before so decided to visit.

We are two middle-aged men and this museum is more suited to young children and their parents however we still found their exhibitions on fishing and hunting interesting because they help to explain a culture that we do not know. The exhibition on water in the environment vas very interesting - not because it told us anything new about water but because of what we gained about Czech Geography.

The star exhibition was their special exhibition “Agriculture in 100 objects”. We spent about an hour here and I could have spent much longer. The direction here was far less to young children but it was very interesting to two grown men!

The trip to the museum passed a morning and I’m delighted that we went. The subject of their special exhibiting will determine if I go back next year but I certainly wouldn’t rule it out.

I like museums, especially ones that are a bit different. It was the tractors that got my interest originally, but there was so much more to it. The staff were very friendly, some practicing there language skills (much better than mine) or communicating by signs. I felt it was a privilege to be there!
The roof top garden was lovely, with beehives too. The exhibitions had lots of interactive content, I had a go at most things and thoroughly enjoyed myself for a couple of hours.

Interactive exhibitions focused on Czech agriculture combined with the history as well. Just some rooms are more focused on kids. Bonus is a stunning view of Prague from the roof. Inexpensive entrance fee.

My 2,5 year daughter was so impressed that we had to return the next day. She loved the gastronomy playground.

This is the best museum I've ever been to that is excellent for both children and adults.

My toddler had many fun things to occupy him right next to excellent adult exhibits. I had time to read and think while not having to worry he was about to run off and touch something he shouldn't.

There were so many interactive exhibitions which were fun and educational aimed at different ages, alongside purely educational exhibits for older children and adults which were presented in clear and creative ways.

This is a very clever and thought through museum, which teaches people about all of the different sides of food, way beyond just agriculture. From the roof top garden of food crops, to sections on forestry, hunter-gatherers, fishing and more.

My suggestions for how it could be better:

While some of the exhibits focus on the damaging effects of current agricultural/fishing techniques on nature, the museum doesn't sufficiently explore what alternatives there are to the current way of doing things. There could be an exhibit called 'The future of Food' which focussed on more sustainable/ethical forms of agriculture/fishing, which could include:

* Agro-forestry/silvo-culture
* Forest gardening
* People eating less meat and animal products due to the devastating impacts of animal agriculture on the planet.
* The rise of vegan and vegetarianism in Prague (and the world)
* The rise of lab-grown meat
* The rise of the organic food movement
* The rise of the permaculture movement
* The rise of Fair Trade in the Czech republic.
* Agricultural techniques which require less land (e.g. less animals eaten, or the rise of vertical farms) or which require less resources (e.g. the use of robots to manually weed fields or to use robots to minimise the use of fertilisers on crops by just targetting weeds).
* And more...

It's very important to emphasis agricultural techniques which are more sustainable, in terms of soil health, energy use, carbon emissions/climate impact, impact on other species, pollution, effects on forests, and more.

Overall though an excellent, fun and informative museum.
