The area
Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

There are possibly only one or two really great views for pics on this channel. Both of which are really nice.
The channel is actually fairly long as it was built to supply a constant stream of water for the mills that lined it, but its the end near the Charles Bridge that is of particular interest.
Definitely have a look if your in the area but it will only take about 10 minutes of your time.

The Certovka or Devil's Channel is part of the canal that separates Lesser Town from Kampa Island. It's a historic district of Prague that used to contain water mills and there's a working example on Lover's Bridge, not far from John Lennon Wall. The views are pretty, although I wouldn't go out of the way to see it. There are more picturesque sites in Prague.

A lovely little stretch of water that divides Malá Strana from Kampa Island. It is said to have been named in the 19th century after a woman of devilish character. You can take boat trips down it or just view it from Lovers Bridge.

On completing our touring of Mala Strana, especially since we were visiting on September 11th, our tour guide suggested that we seek out the 9/11 memorial at the base of the Charles Bridge. Our route took us past the Lennon wall, at which point we encountered this unanticipated visual gem.
Indeed, this small canal is crossed by a few bridges which afford very picturesque views and nice photo ops.
While this would not seem to be a destination worthy of a special trip if you are not near, but since almost everyone crosses the Charles Bridge at least a couple of times during their Prague visits, this spot is close enough to warrant a quick detour down the steps on the south side near the bridge termination at Mala Strana.

If your wandering around the wonderful Mala Strana district and head towards John Lennon Wall, just past here is a small bridge festooned with love locks,it's here that you can see the lovely vintage mill wheel and take in the splendid Devils Channel, a narrow stretch of river that makes for some great photographic opportunities in a city that is just so beautiful.
The very best views are probably on the river itself ,being up close you can take in the amazing architecture of this most beautiful of cities.
Well worth checking out if your planning a holiday to Prague.

The Devil's Channel is a great stretch of the Vltava River that was created centuries ago to provide a sourse of water for this part of the city ,the only remaining wooden water wheel is found along this stretch of water ,its very photogenic and if you're in the area its most definitely well worth checking out.
