I wish I had read these TA reviews before buying tickets!
The show was childish, slap stick comedy; boring and not very funny.
The couple next to us left at the intermission. We wish we had done the same.

It is an incredible show with many beautiful light effects. We appreciate the original atmosphere and the entertaining props. The actors were energised and cooperated with the audience. Some stories were a little old-fashioned, but we found that cute and valued the authenticity. I'd recommend reading basic information about the Black Light Theatre and its concept before the performance to understand the show's context. In conclusion, we had a wonderful time in Reduta. It was definitely a very unique experience.

Having loved the show many years ago I wanted to share the experience with my husband. The theatre was still small and charming but the show was terrible. Mostly just poor miming comedy and hardly any special effects. We left at interval. Maybe there are better shows elsewhere

It was fun—a little low quality, but the actors did a good job. Apparently this has to be at least 100 characters so here we are

Don’t waste your time and money
This show is for up to 11 year old
The room is hot and not air conditioned
Poor act , chairs are on the same high level, can’t see the stage after third line
See attached image - that is how you see the stage from line 4

Do NOT go to this black light show. We made reservations and arrived right at 8 and were told we may not be able to sit together because the show was sold out. Eventually they asked people to move down in their rickety wooden seats, which were literally side by side without any armrests or dividers of any kind. The guy next to be was physically touching me, and everyone else was also touching their neighbors. It was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable seating in a tiny, dingy space. The guy next to me was coughing and blowing his nose the entire time we stayed. And this was just the beginning. The show itself is cheaply made, poorly written, and has punchlines that only small children would giggle at. The skits were honestly embarrassing to watch; I felt bad for the performers, as people walked out mid show. We at least waited until there was an intermission to cut out early. But it was cringy and awkward and quite expensive. I’ve been to better performances at high schools.

Dear Stephanie, Firstly, we are sorry you had a bad experience with our business. It is certainly not what we want. Yet, we would like to clarify a few points for our other customers who might be reading your review. All our resellers provide information that there is free seating at the venue. We understand that many families and couples want to sit together, so we provide this information on our website as well as on the websites of the third-party resellers. We also provide the information that we open the auditorium 30 minutes before the beginning of the show. You have chosen to visit the first Black Light Theatre company in the world, so yes, it is very likely that it will be sold out. Since you arrived really at 8 PM, there was not much we could do to ensure you would sit together. When there is more time, it is possible to ask in a row with two empty seats whether the customers in that very row might make those two seats one next to each other by moving. Yet, when you arrive at the time of the beginning, this is not possible anymore. We talked to our manager about your case. Since he saw your disappointment, he even proposed an option for you to come and see the show with your current tickets on any of the next days. We believe we have done everything that was possible to find a way to keep you happy. The venue, Reduta, is one of the oldest clubs in Prague, having a theatre stage and jazz stage. There is original furniture in both auditoriums as it is part of the experience. The chairs are wooden but with padding, so you do not sit on wood. We are renting the venue, and Reduta keeps the essence of the '50s all over the place, so even the selection of chairs is not ours. Yet, we find wood as a beautiful material for seats as long as you sit on padding. We are sorry that the guy next to you was blowing his nose and coughing... There is not much we can do about this, though. Regarding the show itself, I believe that since you could not be seated together, you may have perceived everything as bad and wrong. "Antología" show of Black Light Theatre Srnec is a retrospective selection of our original sketches from the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s. The show has been performed in 69 countries, at more than 90 theatre festivals, on all continents. We have been invited repeatedly to the same countries and cities; therefore, people love the original approach of the original company of Black Light Theatre. Throughout the years, we have been viewed by presidents and royal families during our tours abroad. The show was chosen to represent Czech art at the NATO summit in Prague for wives of presidents and prime ministers. We have performed in the most famous venues such as Teatro Teresa Carreño in Venezuela, NCPA in China, Christmas Theatre in Greece, Sadler's Wells in GB, Théâtre de la Renaissance in Paris, and countless national theatres all over the world... I could go on and on... Sincerely, you would be hard-pressed to find another Czech theatre company with such a rich history worldwide. Yet, we are well aware that the show is not for everyone. The way we tell the stories is poetic, naive, and surreal. We are definitely not a mainstream show. We see Black Light Theatre Srnec as a niche product. We also do as much as we can to inform and show people more before they purchase the tickets because we want to ensure our customers are happy in our venue. There are videos on our website, pictures, and a program to download. You mentioned that people walked out. There was one person this day who walked out because he did not feel well and needed water. He returned for the second half. We apologize again that your experience did not meet your expectations. Sincerely, Jiri Sales Department Black Light Theatre Srnec

Extremely unconfortable theatre, wood chairs, dust everywhere, first comes first sits. Show of 1,30 min with intermission. It consists of some suposedly funny gags, where some black theatre items interact with the actors. Very boring, public yawning and some leaving. Not nice choreographies like in the show called Wow. Very disappointing. Sitting in the 1st row it is not advisable because it looses its magic since you can see the tricks.

Dear Anna V, Sorry that the show (and the venue) did not meet your expectations. Regarding the venue, we have mentioned this in a previous response, but to be clear, even here: The venue, Reduta, is one of the oldest clubs in Prague, with a theatre stage and jazz stage. There is original furniture in both auditoriums since it is part of the experience. The chairs are wooden but padded, so you do not sit directly on wood. We are renting the venue, and Reduta maintains the essence of the '50s throughout, including the selection of chairs. However, we find wood to be a beautiful material for seats, especially when padded. Since you mentioned the name of a company that has nothing to do with the original Black Light Theatre company or the original idea of what Black Light Theatre is or should be, it is quite clear that you are not the intended audience for our performances. The original idea of Black Light Theatre revolves around puppetry, with objects interacting with visible actors, each other, or the audience. The essence of Black Light Theatre does not involve choreographies in luminescent costumes or objects floating in the air without purpose. We do not imply that a different approach is necessarily wrong; we simply want to point out that what you are referring to is not theatre but rather ballet, dance, or circus. We hope you were a genuine customer, and this review was not written by someone affiliated with the show mentioned in your post. Sincerely, Jiri Sales Department Black Light Theatre Srnec

It was a cute little show. The bright lights against the black was a really cool illusion to see. The performers were in sync and it felt like a small intimate entertainment performance. The downside is that some of the content is more Pg-13. I would not recommend for younger children as there are couple of skits that contain a few inappropriate things that a younger kid should not be exposed to. Even though these are short stories, the audience of today expects things that are more progressive and appropriate. For example, the lady being touched in her behind was a big one. If you are ok with things like this then it won’t bother you but if you like being a lot more thoughtful about what your kids that are 10 and under are exposed to, then maybe this wouldn’t be the best. Overall, we enjoyed it and my kids laughed almost the whole time but we did not expect it to have it such content since it’s advertised as something to do with kids.

What a waste of money! Embarrassingly amateurish, seen better primary school performances. Over half the audience left at the break which says it all. Don’t bother wasting an evening on this unless you are aged 5-7!

As it is a theater in which there are daily sessions and a lot of people pass by, I expected a more powerful theater. As for the plot, I found it very SEXIST. I did not expect to see (and less in these times), sketches where I have found a man trying to get a woman drunk to pick her up, a photographer who instead of photographing the girl takes a photo under her lap without any consent, etc. I find it VERY SERIOUS, and more taking into account the boys and girls who were watching this theater.
In short, a DENIGRANT work, with a TERRIBLE and sexist ARGUMENT that is not worth watching.
A theater that in theory has filming and has been operating for years must continue to innovate and look for good scenes to offer the public.
Quite a disappointment.
