About
The Old Town Bridge Tower is one of the most beautiful Gothic gateways in the world. The tower, along with the Charles Bridge, was built by Emperor Charles IV according to designs by Petr Parléř in the mid-14 th century. The gate to the Old Town was also conceived as a symbolic victory arch through which Czech kings passed on their coronation processions. For an unforgettable view, visitors must climb 138 steps to the viewing gallery.

Address
Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

Definitely worth the climb up the stairs for a great view!!!!
We actually walked over the bridge on a Sunday and went up the tower on a Monday. I think going during the week the tower and bridge are a bit more manageable as there were only about eight people on the roof of the tower when we were. On Sunday, the bridge was wall to wall people!

    Grand, Ancient Tower
Construction began on the tower in 1357. It was built for two purposes: 1) to be a defense against possible invaders and 2) to be a symbolic arch of triumph through which Kings of Bohemia would pass on their way to the Prague Castle. Near the top of the tower are statues of King Charles IV at different ages, along with the coats of arms of the Holy Roman Empire and the Kingdom of Bohemia. At the top are statues of St. Adalbert and St. Sigismund of Burgundy.

Beautiful and Historic Gothic Tower at Charles Bridge
One of the most beautiful and historic Gothic gateways in the world. The Old Town Bridge Tower, along with the Charles Bridge, were built in the mid 14th century by Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV who made Prague the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. In addition to serving as a defense, the gate was a symbolic victory arch through which Czech kings passed on their coronation processions. It is most beautiful when the tower and surrounding buildings are illuminated after dark. You can also climb up the tower and this offers wonderful views. The cost is $8 but you can buy a combo ticket for $12 that also allows you to climb the Lesser Town Bridge Tower on the other side of the Charles Bridge. You do not have to use on the same day. Photography on the Old Town Bridge Tower is best in the early morning with the sun at your back. It is also less crowded if arriving soon after it opens.

The price was 100 czk ( 3,80 euro) and the visiting program is 10 am to 10 pm. The view is so impressive. In this price is also included the entry for an intermediate room before the top and when you get down we can visit a small exhibition with old staff ( this one is not so interesting).

An amazing entrance to the bridge from the old town end.
It is an imposing baroque style tower that stands watch over the entrance to the Charles Bridge / Karlov Most in Prague.
It looks like it might need a clean as it looks a little blackened from all the pollution.
You can access the tower to climb it from the upstream side on the base of the tower.
The cost is pretty reasonable and its half price in the first hour after opening. A lot of people climb it towards the end of the day to get a great view of the sun going down.
Its a must do when in Prague to experience it from the inside as well. The stairs are a little cramped but its a fairly easy climb.
A great experience and well worth doing.

I arrived in Prague quite late in the day, and this was my first thing to check off the list. Even though it was dark already and the weather wasn't best, the tower was a perfect spot, as the top part is quite sheltered, and the view of the city lit-up was breathtaking. And the tower itself was completely deserted, I was the only one visiting! Be sure to check it out!

The beautiful Old Town Bridge Tower forms the eastern entrance to the famous Charles Bridge and at the same time the western entrance to Prague's Old Town. Accordingly, hundreds to thousands of visitors squeeze through the gate during the day. As with most towers in Prague, you can climb up to the observation deck for a fee (currently CZK 190), but we didn't do that because of the crowds.

Tip: There is a 50% discount on the entrance fee during the first hour after opening.

The tower gives some great views of the city and particularly of Charles Bridge across the river Vltava. If you’re looking for views, these are excellent. However the rest of the tower is not particularly interesting. The lowest room of the tower has a small video display, as well as a few items discovered during reconstructions and excavations. There is a small display in one of the upper rooms as well, but the primary draw is the view from the top.

The tower marks the beginning of the famous Charles Bridge. Even from outside, it is an impressing building and a good subject for photos. It is also possible to climb the stairs to the top, where you have a nice view (paid admission).

Beautiful. Imposing. A beautiful bridge to walk while being entertained by the street performers. You will be able to see musicians, painters, cartoonists and more.
The views of the bridge are beautiful (I recommend them especially at night).
It is flanked from end to end by different statues, each with its own meaning (I recommend taking a guided tour to enrich the walk).

Old Town bridget tower is a beautiful entrace to the Charles bridge. With its statues of St. Vitus and King Charles, the tower dominates the entrance to the bridge and is a great meeting spot for lost members of your party. Make sure you pass through the gate to appreciate this 700+ year old structure.
