On the Old Town side of Charles Bridge, this Gothic tower built in 1373 is flanked by sculptures of St Vitus and Charles IV. Open to the public,it offers excellent views of the Old Town and the Vltava River to visitors who climb the narrow staircase. The tower once displayed the heads of twelve Protestant leaders executed in 1621, and was also the site of the final conflict of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648).

The ticket isn't very expensive (there's also a student discount) and the climb isn't too difficult - you have to get into the tower and climb up one floor to get the tickets. The top floor is the roof, where you can see the medieval structure (stay in the room, there's music and lights) and enjoy the views of the... More

This is one of the iconic landmarks of Prague. Prominent and give a lovely view of this part of old town with the quaint outlook. Worth visiting any time of the day

Well priced with great views! If you are in the area really worth the money to see Charles Bridge from above!

Now the final steps are steep and not elderly or kiddie friendly. But when you get there the views are stunning. We luckily did not have to pay but would have been worth it for the view

One of two towers at each end of the bridge , Don't forget to look up as you walk underneath and see the ceiling frescos which are somewhat faded

Again, if you're looking to get pictures that capture a lot of Prague's scenery at once, head to the tower. There's a 360 degree observation deck at the top and you get a beautiful view of the Charles Bridge, Vltava River and Prague Castle all at once. If you go up at dark, it's even more beautiful.

One doesn't find such piece of architecture often. The fact it resisted through the eras is already a reason itself to pay a visit there. Furthermore, not only the style is elegant (and impressive), but also full of history. You'll anyway visit it while paying a visit to the Carl's bridge.

The tower is a imposing structure at one end of the Charles bridge. Built as a defensive tower it now acts as a gateway for tourists to access and cross the Charles Bridge. It has some interesting small statues and crests and the tower can be accessed if you like to climb to the top for views.

The entire bridge from beginning to end is surrounded by beautiful views. It was snowing when we visit and it was so amazing. The statues partially covered with snow made the entire scenario much more interesting. We crossed the bridge during the day and in our way back in the evening – they become different places altogether and it is... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
