About
For more than a hundred years, the museum has been collecting extensive collections documenting the development of many technical disciplines, natural and exact sciences and industry in the territory of today's Czech Republic. You can see the most interesting and in many cases rare and unique exhibits of our collections in one of the most visited museums in the Czech Republic. The main goal of the museum is to preserve the ingenuity of the past and inspire the future.

    Wonderful. Amazing collection
A true gem! This is an amazing museum and a must see. They have a real Spitfire fighter, several other historic planes, a pre-war Mercedes W154 race car, a Bugatti 51 racer, many other cool old cars, dozen of motorcycles, and amazing locomotives. And then there are several floors of other technology explorations. If you’re in Prague, you need to visit!!

    Great museum, strongly suggested
A great musun near Letna Park. No matter how old you are, if you have children or what you are interested in, you can find something for you. One of the best places for those interested in technology. My favourite part was the one with cars, planes and motors. Additionally, you can see the history and evolution of clocks, phones, cameras, household, metallurgy and many more.

    Well worth the visit
My husband had been following me around the Christmas markets for a few weeks so I asked him if he wanted to visit this museum. It was amazing. I think there are 5 levels of interesting things - Transport with planes hanging from the ceiling, two restored Locomotives, motorbikes dating back to the late 1800's, old cars and that's just on one level. Then you have Astronomy and time level, Engineering, mining, photography, food and metallurgy. It was one of the best museums we had ever seen and certainly occupied the morning, and probably to see it properly, you need a day.

    Interesting place
Reasonably priced at approximately £20 for 2 adults. Lots to see. Particularly liked the cars and planes. Need about 3 hours to have a good look around. They have a cafe too. We didn’t use it but it looked ok.

    Brilliant.
Brilliant place very interesting took us 3 hours to walk round and read the information. Thankfully it was in English. The staff were ok not over helpful due to not speaking English but that's OK. Plenty of stairs to climb but there is a few lifts. Not very wheelchair friendly unfortunately due to stairs going into the building and all the stairs.

Lots of vintage cars plus planes and steam engines
Nice collection of trains, planes and automobiles. A special display on photography was also very interesting. Taking public transit involves a little walking as the tram lets you out two blocks in back of the museum then you need to walk around the front. I was offered a senior discount which was nice. As I am over 65 I ride for free on Prague metro and trams.

    Get your steps in
Well-organized, good signage - I started at the top and by the time I had worked my way to the ground floor I was too full to take in the mining and other exhibits in the basement. But it's great for the history of boating, motorcycles, cars, and aircraft in the Czech Republic. This place is not air-conditioned.

A good place to visit on a rainy day
This is an excellent museum as it has such a varied collection of stuff. We spent 4 hours in there. It is NOT suitable for children as it not interactive, however, this does not stop coach loads of school kids visiting. Lots of clean toilets and the cafe is good value, just avoid the lunch hour rush. Across the road is a good viewpoint. Over 66s get in for 150Czk over 70s it is just 1Czk.

Spectacular scale for a museum! This was our second trip to Prague and we went back to this museum to finish it off as didn’t manage to get round it all in one day on our first visit. The Transport Hall is enough for an afternoon in itself and they have plenty more exhibits to see, but not much is interactive so does get tiresome after a while.

The main thing letting down the museum are the staff (who on initial observation appear all to be rather elderly which perhaps explains their rudeness!) We had two negative encounters on our visit today.

First when we opened the lid of an old wooden washing machine which was right in the middle of the walkway. There were no signs saying not to touch or any indication that you couldn’t have a proper look at this item such as barriers or even a pedestal raising it up out of the way of passers by. However almost immediately a lady ran over to us shouting angrily in Czech. When we explained we only spoke English she continued to shout in Czech before saying ‘don’t touch its old’. A simple sign would have been sufficient (as there were on many of the other displays!).

Secondly we went into the Astronomy exhibit. At the entrance to the exhibit there is a video with some seats in front to sit and watch. It was quite warm in there so we got out a bottle of water for a quick drink thinking this would be okay since we weren’t near any displays (and as adults we are surely capable of drinking bottled water in any event) to again have a man run over shouting angrily at us in Czech. Safe to say even when it’s 30 degrees outside you can only drink in the cafe.

Although there is undoubtedly more to see from this museum, our encounters today have put me off wanting to go back.

This museum is a great example of why many people think museums are boring. All exhibitions are pure collections, though vast and rich in number and details, there is absolutely no interaction and the entire place is covered with "no touch" and "no step" signs. Interesting choice when the better way of understanding technical history is to try and do... The transport hall is ok, but the information given in English is sporadic. Would not recommend this to families traveling with children, they should go to the Museum of Agriculture next door where the level of interaction is high. Might be good for technically interested adults, but in our opinion not worth the price.

We didn't realize that the day we visited was a national holiday and it was packed with families. But we still enjoyed the exhibits especially the transport hall. We never found the cafe and the two employees we asked were very unhelpful. Could be they didn't speak English but they seemed very annoyed we were asking questions. That made me lower my rating to average.

The museum reminded me of the Technical Museum in Viena, as it is well curated and has a lots of topics covered. At the top floor, there is an exhibition of architecture, construction and design where you can learn more about the main buildings and lansmarks in the city. Another interesting thing in the museum is the reconstruction of a television studio, which specific TV equipment. There is also an exhibition regarding home appliances evolution in time and it is very intereseting to see how the technology evolved,

Very good exhibition of transport. I didn't know that Czech had such large transport roots. Other areas are also worth to see, however the museum could be more interactive. So if it is a rainy day it is worth to see.

Great exhibition with lots of vintage vehicles. You can enjoy traveling back in time. I miss the Czech vehicles produced in the 1970s and the introduction of local manufacturers and factories.
In addition, old clocks, chemical, telephone, pencil and photography technology exhibitions can be viewed.
Definitely worth a visit.

This is easily a Day's worth of viewing. Initally you see the huge Transport Hall which is huge and full of Aeroplanes, Trains, Cars and other transport. Quite neatly the exhibits of Motorbikes and engines are along the side. At this point you might think " so this is a Transport Museum?". Go back to the entrance and you find there is much more up the stairs/lifts.

Note - the Transport Exhibit is impossible to access for Wheelchair users.

Starting at the Top I managed to see the Architecture, Photography, Printing, Design and Astronomy rooms before calling it a day. There is much more to see.

Note - the Cafe is mainly for locals, I think. Specials are all in Czech and there was a sign saying "Fried Chicken" in Marker Pen. Like many places in Prague ( including McDonalds ) they sell a lot of Beer!

Overall this is easily a Days worth!

A lot to see, no question. Maybe it is a question of socialisation, personally I would like to receive more technical information.
Anyhow, a huge exhibition, lots of tags and some explanations.
Cars, aircrafts, bikes, textiles, mining, chemistry and so forth, literally for anyone something to see.
Additionally, a nice canteen with beer on tap, cakes and other refreshments - great.
Finally, in my opinion, museums are part of the social education system and should be for free. Unfortunately, this is not the case in the world, but 280 crowns are proud...
