If you are staying at the Marriott Courtyard then take a stroll across the street (in daylight hours, of course) and take in a quiet walk among the tombstones, memorials and crypts. The age of the graves varies and the rows of crypts in various states of repair makes for interesting photos. In some cases it seems like the occupants... More

When I travel, I sometimes visit cemeteries, many quite beautiful in scenic locations. Olsany cemetery in Prague is of the main road and not in the prettiest part of the city. But beyond it's walls, it is a huge park like property with tall trees and the ever present ivy. The largest cemetery in Prague, dating back centuries. There is... More

A haven of peace after a busy few days sightseeing, yes its a cemetery but it is also beautiful and full of great wonderful markers and head stones. take time out to have a wander around and reflect.

I know this is a Cemetary, and personally I think burials are a waste of space, but the history and the beauty in this place is astounding! Right on a major route, right next to Flora mall, and yet you don't know it is there. As you walk through you can't help but feel the history in this place. The... More

Very peaceful, with a variety of memorials from the last hundred years - cremations, tombs, simple graves, and a relatively overgrown area. If you find graveyards provide a peak into the heart of a city, this won't disappoint.

The Olsanske cemeteries is a much larger area to explore than you might think. I have been here several times but this was the first visit to the military section of the cemetery. A lot history, beautiful vegetation in the kept and unkept gravesides. Wonderful morning or afternoon walks among the tombstones and Czech history.

Had a humbling walk through here and loved how overgrown with ivy this place has become. Some graves are so old they've been cracked and displaced by tree roots and its amazing to see how many stones are still decorated despite occupants dating from the 19th Century - it'samazing to realise that these family members are still loved, remembered and... I can see this cemetery from my mom's flat. It's a really big cemetery, some of the grave markers are quite extravagant. There are some important people from Czech history buried here, though they aren't all famous. Kafka is probably the most well known person buried here. A nice, quiet, not as touristy area to wander.

No matter what season I have visited this cemetery it has, for me, a unique atmosphere. Many of the memorials deserve more than a passing glance, - worth a visit.
