About
This monumental entrance by which the coronation processions of Czech kings entered the Old Town is one of the most significant monuments of Late Gothic Prague. Completed in 1475, the Powder Gate Tower, which formerly served as a gunpowder store, is still the starting point for the Coronation or Royal Route to Prague Castle. The viewing gallery is located at a height of 44 m.

Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

    Better from the outside
Very impressive and intimidating looking tower. Reminded me from something from the Lord of the Rings movies. Great photo opportunities, but as for the 190K/$8.25 to go up to the top of the tower...it wasn't worth it the time, effort, and money. While I do love a good European tower with 100s of steps, this interiors of each floor weren't too exciting, and the views from the top weren't all that exciting. If you're limited on time, you can skip going up there, and just admire the architecture from the outside.

    Once used to store gunpowder
We started our excellent walking tour from here. Pasna brana also known as The Powder Tower because it was used to store gunpowder in the 17th century. It is one of the original 13 city gates in the Old Town of Prague. Construction commenced in 1475 and it was to be the entrance into the city. Its a beautiful historical building and grateful it has been preserved.

    Stairway through History
I titled my review Stairway through History because that's how I felt as I took each step to reach the top. I thought about the people from hundreds of years ago who built this rower, climbed these stairs, and felt these walls. It was a wonderful feeling knowing I had joined them in their journey. Once you take the final step, you're rewarded with fantastic views of this wonderful, historic city. Highly recommend for those willing to climb the 187 steps to reach the top.

    Striking Gateway to Old Town
I passed under this imposing, black-colored piece of Gothic-style architecture quite a bit during my stay in Prague. I don’t know if there’s a way to enter the structure itself, but as a wheelchair user, I likely wouldn’t have been able to anyway. Inside or out, it’s an incredible work of art in the center of the Czech capital city.

    Impressive Gothic Tower
The Powder Gate (Prasna Brana) was one of the 13 gates surrounding Old Town and its construction began in 1475. The coronation ceremony for Czech kings would pass through the gate as the procession made its way to St Vitus Cathedral. The tower makes for an impressive sight and a great photo both day and night. It located on Celetna Street which connects Old Town Square and New Town and is also right next to the Obecni Dum Concert Hall.

The Powder Gate is located in Republic Square, right next to the Municipal House. The entrance to the tower is small, easy to overlook. The ascent is quite challenging, because the stairs are narrow and spiral, but the view from the top of the tower of Prague is beautiful.

Inside there is a small exhibition that describes the history of this tower.
Various inscriptions from tourists are engraved in the stones on the observation deck. The oldest message I found there was from 1927.

The Powder Tower is one of the ancient gates of Prague, and it is now on the boundaries of the old town. It used to be the storage for gunpowder, this is where its name comes from. I had no chance to climb up to its top, but I guess you can see wonderful views of the city from up there. I loved its presence, in the middle of the city, it still looks like a gate both to the old town and to the past.

Powder Gate (Prašná brána) is a wonderful medieval tower and gate. Construction started in 1483, but builders lost interest and the gate was not completed until the late 1800s (that’s some lack of interest!). The 65-meter tower was used as a wharehouse for gunpowder in the 1800s, giving rise to the nickname “Dusty”.

An old tower with beautiful architecture (there is another tower with similar architecture in Prague, the Old Town Bridge Tower). The gate at its base was one of the entry points to the medieval city. The facade is very beautifully decorated. The ascent to the observation platform is quite difficult, on some narrow spiral stairs. But the view makes it worth the effort. The entrance ticket can be paid with the card. When you climb to the observation deck, at an intermediate level, is a small exhibition that gives you details about the history of the tower.
The stone from which it is built has acquired an almost black color over the time, giving the impression that the tower is smoked by a fire.
Right next to it is Obecní dům / Municipal House, a very beautiful building.

The Powder Tower forms the eastern entrance to Prague's Old Town and the beginning of Celetná, the historic Royal Route to Prague Castle. The neo-Gothic tower was built in several stages starting in the 15th century. As with most towers in Prague, you can climb up to the viewing platform for a fee (currently CZK 190). The rooms inside are empty except for a few information boards. The view from the top is OK, but not a must.

Tip: There is a 50% discount on the entrance fee during the first hour after opening.

I visited Prague without doing any research. After checking in at the hotel, the first thing I noticed on my walk was this Powder Tower. It's a very heavy and imposing structure, but everyone passes by without noticing. I later found out it was a tourist spot called the Powder Tower. It blends in so well with the city. I always pass by here to go to Charles Bridge and the Old Town from the hotel. So I was able to enjoy its appearance at different times of the day, in the morning, evening and at night. The background was a beautiful pink color when the sun was setting (it was past 9pm in early July). It was a beautiful unobstructed view.

The most interesting attraction between our hotel and Old Town Square was the Powder Gate. It is one of the original 13 city gates in Old Town, Prague. Its construction began in 1475 but not actually completed until the late 1800s. The tower was intended to be an attractive entrance into the city, instead of a defensive tower.
The gate was used to store gunpowder in the 17th century, hence the name Powder Tower or Powder Gate. The gate suffered considerable damage during the Battle of Prague. The sculptures on the tower were replaced in 1876.

Very beautiful 15th century large tower. Construction of the Gothic style tower began in 1475. Originally it was one of the 13 city gates of the Old City. In the 17th century, the 65 meter high tower was used for some time to store gunpowder... then the name Kruidtoren came into use. It is remarkable that the tower had a mainly decorative function when it was built in the 15th century and had hardly any defensive significance. During the Battle of Prague in 1757 (conflict between Austria and Prussia over Silesia), the tower was severely damaged, but was restored. Very beautiful city gate, richly decorated, beautiful roof!!
