This church is a bit trickier to find, but it's worth it at least to have a quick look around. The interior is gorgeous and seeing the mummified forearm is the cherry on top. As you're leaving the main hall, look up to your left and you'll see it pretty clearly. Makes for an interesting story.

I attended the Passion Week concert of Dvorak's "Stabat Mater" this week and enjoyed the music completely and the building almost. I loved that the musicians were over our heads and behind us in the organ loft. This let the music sweep over us and allowed our eyes to take in the visual beauty of the church. I was happy... More

Was closed when we arrived, but there is enough architecture outside the building to make it a good location. We ran out of time, check online to ensure opening hours, inside looks spectacular. External photography is worthwhile!

It is small and often found by accident. The ceiling is spectacular and the art is magnificent. If you can find it, it is worth a visit - technically no pictures allowed

This is a beautiful church. We almost missed the hand but the attendant pointed it out to us as we were leaving. At first we were told no photos but before we left he told me I could take a few. This was completely unsolicited and I'm not sure why he offered to allow it. The hand makes this church... More

Can't give up the secret but stop in and when you enter go right of center and look straight up to the ceiling

Known locally as basilica of St Jakob. Open door church with an amazing interior, but even with no parishioners they don't allow pictures. Considering how many poor people gave their money to the church that doesn't seem nice. Phooey! (I got a picture anyway!). Yes, it has a mummified hand but it's hard to see.

I had to visit to see the mummified arm that hangs in the church. Legend says the arm is from a jewel thief who tried to steal from the high altar, which has a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is believed that when the thief tried to steal the jewels, Mary grabbed his arm and would not let go,... More

St. James is considered the most beautiful church in Prague. There is a mummified hand of a thief hanging above the door.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
